FLORENCE COUNTY CITIZENS IN ACTION
JANUARY 23, 2007
The January 23, 2007 meeting of the Florence County Citizens in Action was held at Florence Bible Chapel. Chairman Licia Stone opened the meeting with Walter Ranson leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
Three new members were welcomed.
Brenda Gibson read minutes and Miriam Dew gave Treasurer report.
Thanks to Bill Hoffmeyer for volunteering his church as a monthly meeting facility for FCCIA.
Walt Ranson acknowledged the death of charter member Col. William Tallon, who passed away Saturday, January 20, 2007 and charter member Tim Cox's death in December.
More participation is needed at Florence County Council meetings, which meet the 1 st and 3 rd Thursdays of each month in Room 803 in Florence City/County Complex.
Dean Fowler informed us of the impact the FCCIA has had in Florence County and how other counties in South Carolina are forming similar organizations requesting more open government.
Lou Vause gave an update on petition drive. We have approximately 2877 of 11,000 needed.
Lou gave out a schedule for volunteers to collect signatures for the petition drive.
The Program Committee and the Executive Committee will meet Monday, February 5, 2007 @ 5 o'clock at Atlantic Bread.
Our next meeting will be February 27, 2007 , @ 6 o'clock at Florence Bible Chapel, 1400 Second Loop Road, Corner of Woods Road and Second Loop, Florence , S C 29505.
