FLORENCE COUNTY CITIZENS IN ACTION
February 27 , 2007
The February 27 meeting of the Florence County Citizens in Action was held at 6:00 PM at the Florence Bible Chapel. Refreshments were served prior to the meeting. Chairman Licia Stone opening the meeting at 6:30 PM.
Chairman Stone welcomed new members and guest.
Secretary Brenda Gibson was not present. Walt Ranson read the minutes of the previous meeting. Treasurer, Miriam Dew gave the treasurer's report
Mrs. Stone thanked the members of the refreshment committee. She announced the upcoming March 1 and 15 Council meetings and encouraged everyone to attend these meetings.
Petition Co-chair, Lou Vause reported on the ongoing petition Drive. She reported that volunteers have continued to collect signatures at the city/County Complex. She reported contacts with Wall-mart, Dollar General, and the Piggy Wiggly stores. Mrs. Vause asked for volunteered to help man future locations.
Mrs. Stone announced the FCCIA member Bradley "Bubba" Rainwater had passed away.
Chairman Stone reported that several committees met on February 5 to discuss future programs, the petition drive, and publicity. These committees will meet again on March 5 at 5:00 PM at Atlanta Bread. Upcoming speakers are March - radio personality T.J., April - Judge Kenneth Eaton, May - Keith Lane from DHEC, and June - Dusty Owens.
There was a discussion of a possible march to help advertise the Petition Drive. Mrs. Stone asked for volunteers to raise their hands, if willing to participate in a march.
The program was turned over to program Chairman, Lou Vause who introduced Florence County Councilman, James Schofield. Mr. Schofield discussed projects and goals he hopes council will consider including a future judicial center. After his presentation, Mr. Schofield answered questions. The meeting was adjourned.
