FLORENCE COUNTY CITIZENS IN ACTION

JUNE 26, 2007

The June 26, 2007 meeting of the Florence County Citizens in Action was held at 6:00 p.m. at Florence Bible Chapel with 21 members present. Chairman Licia Stone opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Walt Ranson led Pledge of Allegiance.

Brenda Gibson read minutes from June meeting.

Miriam Dew gave treasurer report.

Licia Stone introduced our guest speaker, Dusty Owens, Director of Florence County Emergency Management. Mr. Owens gave us an informative presentation on understanding a variety of hazards of Florence County and how we can prepare for them. He also told us how his department has developed multi-emergency preparedness for Florence County.

Lou Vause gave update on petition drive. We had a very successful drive at Lake City.

We now have over half of our required signatures. Drives are set up for Johnsonville for July 20 & July 21 at the Piggly Wiggly and in Florence. Volunteers are needed.

Florence County Salaries, raises, and bonuses were discussed. Florence County Council is in the upper range of salaries in South Carolina.

Next County Council meeting will be July 19, 2007. Attendance is encouraged.

There will not be a July or August meeting.
