FCCIA JUNE 2006 MEETING
The June 27, 2006 meeting of the Florence County Citizens In Action was held at the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library. FCCIA Chairman Lou Vause opened the meeting.
After the Pledge of Allegiance, Treasure Licia Stone read the minutes of the previous meeting and gave the treasurers report. She reported a balance of $1863.03
Program Chairman, Tommy Griffin introduced the speaker, Mr. Steve Powers who gave an interesting talk on downtown development and the Pecan Festival.
After the program, Bill Hoffmeyer, chairman of the nominating committee submitted the committee's recommendation for up coming officers and board members. They were Licia Stone, Chairman, Lou Vause, vice chairman, Miriam Dew, Treasurer, Brenda Gibson, Secretary, Jeffery Humpries for a ___ year term and Carroll Howell for a ___term, Bill Sebnick one year term. Tommy Griffin has ___remaining on his term.
A motion was made to accept the recommendation of the nominating committee and the candidates were elected by unanimous consent.
After the election new chairman Licia Stone addressed old business.
Jack Nettles gave a report on the completion of the paperwork for the Ethics Commission and announced that he would appear be for County Council to make the proposal that Florence County Council establish the ethics commission.
There was discussion of future meeting locations as the library does not accommodate organizations of a continuous basis. Licia Stone and Brenda Gibson were to look into future meeting locations.
It was announced that there would be no July meeting and that the August meeting would be the Open Government Award meeting.
Under new business the possibility of a petition drive to repeal the $30 Road Tax was discussed a committee was formed to address this issue and bring back details at the next meeting. The group was encouraged to attend the July and August Council meetings.
A membership list was circulated and everyone was to pay dues if they had not done so.
