FLORENCE COUNTY CITIZENS IN ACTION
August 23, 2006

The August 23, 2006 meeting of the Florence County Citizens in Action was held at Bazen's Restaurant.  Chairman Licia Stone opened the meeting with Walt Ranson leading the Pledge of Allegiance. 

New officers were announced and introduced.

Secretary, Brenda Gibson, read the minutes of the previous meeting.

The Treasurer Report was postponed until the next meeting.

Chairman, Licia Stone thanked Jack Nettles for his efforts in bring the proposal for the county ethics commission before Florence County Council at the August 17 council meeting.

Licia Stone introduced our speaker Councilperson Jennie O'Bryan who gave an outstanding talk on public issues. 

Florence County Citizens in Action gave its Open Government Award to Councilperson Jennie O'Bryan for the outstanding job she has done for the citizens of Florence County.

A membership list was circulated and everyone was asked to keep dues paid annually.

Lou Vause and Bill Hoffmeyer discussed the petition drive to reduce the $30.00 the Road Maintenance Fee to $15.00 asking for volunteers for each district.

Chairman Stone asked the membership to take copies of the recent ad concerning the salary raise for members of county Council and to help make the community aware that this had taken place.

Our next meeting will be the Fourth (4th) Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Bazen's Restaurant at 6:00 p.m. with our guest speaker Russell Barrett.

Our October 24, 2006 (4th Tuesday) will be at Bazen's Restaurant. 
Our speaker will be Jim McGee on the $.01 Road Tax.

Our November 28, 2006 (4th Tuesday) will be at Bazen's Restaurant
Our speaker will be Auditor Wayne Joye.
