Mr J F MOORE and Miss Myrtle Hall took the train for Delta Saturday
morning and were united in marriage. They returned that evening to make
their home on the A S HALL ranch on German mesa, in which Mr. MOORE is
interested with Mr. HALL. These young people have resided near Paonia only
a short time, yet they have made many friends here who will join i wishing
them all happiness and prosperity.

Mrs Myrtie E Moore, 69 of Tacoma, died Tuesday after a brief illness.
Mrs. Moore was born in Dodge City, KS and lived in Seattle. She lived in
Tacoma since last year. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Fred; a son, Robert, Reno; 3
sisters, Mrs George Belmont, Tacoma, Mrs Agnes Ferguson and Mrs Weltha
MacDonald, both of Seattle: a brother, Phillip H Hall, Colville and 1 grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday in the chapel at Wiggen &
Son Mortuary, Seattle. Burial will be in Acacia Cem. pg 2.

Mrs J. Fred (Myrtie) E. MOORE, 69, died yesterday in a local hospital.
Mrs Moore was born in Dodge City, Kan. She lived in Denver, CO, until 1928,
then moved to Los Angeles. In 1947 she moved to this area & had lived
here since.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Besides her husband she is survived by a son, Robert E & a grandson,
Robert J, both of Reno, NV; 3 sisters, Mrs George (Lois) BELMONT of Fircrest,
Mrs Agnes FERGUSON & Mrs Weltha MacDONALD, both of Seattle & a
brother Phillip H HALL of Colville. Services announced by Buckley-King

Henry FUDGE: The life of Henry Fudge, the efficient & capable superintendent
of the South Mountain lemon & orange ranch, has been such as to elicit
just praise from those who know him best, owing to the fact that he has
been true to the trusts reposed in him & has been upright in his dealings
with his fellowmen, at the same time lending his support to the promotion
of any cause looking to the advancement of the community at large.
Mr Fudge is a native of Cumberland Co, KY, born on the 12th of Mar
1893. He received a good common school education & was reared to the
like of a farmer. He followed that vocation in his native state & Kansas,
living in the latter state until 1914, when he came to Ventura Co, CA.
Locating at Saticoy, he worked on the Roger G EDWARDS ranch abt 4 mos,
after which for abt 18 mos he was employed on the South Mountain ranch.
During the following 4 yrs he was a clerk in the Santa Paula Cooperative
Grocery Store. He returned to South Mountain ranch & 5 yrs ago (abt
1920) was made superintendent, a position which he is still holding &
in which he has show himself a man of energy, tact & discrimination.
He has 5 men under him & has so directed the operation of the ranch
as to achieve splendid results. 80 ac of land are in lemons & oranges,
while 40 ac are hay. The ranch is maintained in the best possible condition
& is valuable & productive.
Mr FUDGE married Miss Susie BECK, who also is a native of KY, &
they are the parents of 2 children, Lillian & Gertrude. Mr Fudge is
a member of the Independent Order of Foresters. He possesses to a notable
degree all the essential elements of good citizenship & has taken a
keen interest in the welfare of his community, supporting all measures

Jeptha Moore was born in Park County, Indiana September 24th, 1833
his parents went to Illinoise when he was quite yong where he remained
until he was in his twenty second year. When he returned to Indiana and
in Feburary 1857 on the eighteenth day of that mounth was maried to America
M Fleming. daughter of Stephen and Mary Ann Fleming.
America M was born December the tenth eighteen and thirty Seven. they
were maried in Park County, Ind. about five miles north east of the place
where Jepetha was born
his Mothers maiden name was Jane Garrizas
To Jeptha and America was born Six children -two boys and four girls
Mary E Moore was born December 6, 1857
Ara E Moore was born July 12, 1859
H E(Eva) J Moore (Shelton) was born August 1, 1861
Mary A Moore (Moore) was born March 23rd 1864
Joseph J Moore was born July 24th 1866 died March 16th 1882

Mary Emma died October 11th 1858

John N BECK Passes After Long Illness-- John N BECK 70 died at his
home, 309 Santa Paula St. yesterday afternoon aft a long illness. Mr Beck
was born in Harowbone, KY (Marrowbone) on Jan 21, 1868. He had lived in
CA for the past 24 yrs. He had been a member of the Modern Woodmen of America
for a number of yrs.
He is survived by wife, Annie; one dau Mrs. H L FUDGE of Santa Paula;
2 grnd-dau, Mrs Lillian MOORE of Inglewood & Gertrude FUDGE of Santa
Paula; 1 sister Mrs Katie FRANKLIN of KY; & brother Jessie BECK of
Calumet, OK.

-- enrolled in Maryland Militia at very bbeginning of war, attached to Cap
Miles LOW 4th Reg, Col John ADDISON, Gen SMALLWOOD
Jun 1779 drafted, marched to Annapolis & received arms thence to
Baltimore & go to assist Gen WAYNE at Paoli, about 3 or 4 miles from
that place informed of his defeat by Britich & Hessians, so retreated
& halted at the Red Lion then marche to attack Stoney Point. Served
4 mo then discharged, returned home to his CO & did duty till May 1780,
when another draft was made. The CO proceeded down Potomac to repel Lord
DUNMORE on Alexandria then called Bellhaven. He remained 9 wks & returned
to Upper Marlborough & served till termination of War.
He was on Active service for 6 mo & 3 days.
That he was born 1754 (should be 1763) has no record of age, but believes
he is 78 yrs. He was living in Upper Marlborough when called into service,
& since War has lived on the spot wher City of Washington now stands
-- enrolled in Militia 1776, 4th Reg withh Lieut John Tawley, had discharge
signed by Major BURGESS but lost it.
I am well know by Philip & Christian HINES in my neighborhood,
can testify to my service.

1795. 100 acres lying on the Chesnut Ridge was surveyed for him on 27 Feb
1796. The survey record mentions a Virginia Land office Treasury Warrant
No 2734 dated 19 Feb 1780.

In the Name of God amen, I, John FUDGE of Washington County VA being
at present in perfect health & of sound mind & memory aside calling
to mind the uncertainty of this life & it is appointed for all men
once to die and after death to come to judgement do make and ordain this
my last Will & Testament. First I recommend my soul to God who gave
it & my body to the earth from which it was taken to be buried in a
Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned
as for such worldly things as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this
life I give & bequest as follows.
Item 1..I will that all my just debts & funeral charges be fully
paid & satisfied.
Item 2..I will that my son Adam & my son Conrod FUDGE shall hold
the land now in their Tennure forever according as it was laid off by John
DUFFEY provided they pay as follows in 3 yrs after my decease VIZ; Adam
to pay 35 pounds in horses or cattle at the then selling price & Conrod
to pay 45 pounds as above which property is to be equally divided among
my 3 children Elizabeth MILLER, Barbara TOOL & Jacob FUDGE.
Item 3.. I will that my son John FUDGE be paid 5 shillings out of my
real estate he having heretofore received what I allowed him of my estate
& that my son Conrod FUDGE shall support & maintain me during my
natural life he having possession of the old & improved part of my
land.
And lastly I do hereby ordain & appoint Adam FUDGE, my son &
Wm HARLEY to be executor of this my Last Will & Testament. I have hereunto
set my hand & seal this 17th day of Dec 1812 before signing I do make
the following Codicil to this my moveable property be appraised & sold
& equally divided amongst all my children after paying the lawful expenses
attending the appraisement & sale of said property.
