Tips of the Day!!!
Tips of the Day!!!
Honestly did you know how you can get sued for infringement of copyrights?
Let's start with the most basic things.

Qn. What is COPYRIGHT?
Ans. A copyright is essentially a set of legal rights authors or artists have over their work.

Qn. What can it do?
Ans. Copyright provides protection for ORGINAL works of the author.
Note! This copyright only applies to tangible production ie. it must take a material form such
as CDs, published books/comics, software, photographs... etc.

Qn. When does copyright start protecting my works?
Ans. Copyright protection starts as soon as the work is in a tangible form. It needs not
necessarily be published to be recognised.

Qn. Do I need to apply for copyrights?
Ans. Copyright protection arises automatically and no application is necessary.

Qn. How can I avoid infringement?
Ans. You should not copy directly from the original work with the exact words, phrases
or expression. Merely copying of the underlying idea in a work is insufficient to
 amount to infringement of copyrights.

Qn. What material can we claim Copyright?
Ans Literary, Musical , Artistic and Dramatic works. Sound Recordings, Cinematograph
Films, Broadcasts,Cable Programs, Published editions of Works and Live Performance.

Qn. How long will this Copyright lasts?
Ans. 50 years after the first publication or after the author's death (whichever comes first)
25 years for a published edition.
50 years for sound recording, cinematograph films and live performance.

Still, I think it is better for us to acknowledge the writers if we use their stuff, especially for fanfic and fan-art. It is something like a respect for their work and efforts.

So have a better understanging?
Try to avoid infringement and also stop buying pirated CDs, VCDs, ... etc. We should acknowledge the work and creativity of the people who worked so hard on it.

That's all for the day!
