Motosuwa Hideki was a student at a preparation school for university. He came to Tokyo from his hometown for about six months already... Since, his family was unable to assist him financially, he took up a part-time job at a bar in the evening to keep himself in Tokyo. (The preparation school was in Tokyo.)

Slowly, he began to learn about life in Tokyo. The advent of Persocon, Computers in Human form, had brought about huge changes to their life-styles. Persocons are extremely cute and useful that almost everyone who can afford had one. Hideki was also tempted till he saw the price of one... In his imagination, he thought about just picking up one... just any Persocon unwanted by anyone... say among the garbage...

He couldn't believe his eyes when he really saw what he imagine... a super-cute Persocon just laying among the garbage... So this is how he bought it back to his rented appartment. 

When he finally figured out how to switch a Persocon, he was amazed by the beauty of it... It seemed to be very happy to be owned by Hideki and hugged him, throwing him onto his back. "Chii..." This is how the Persocon came to be named as Chii.

However, Hideki soon had some problems with Chii-chan... 

It can only say "Chii" only and that it seemed to learn anything it read, like... Hideki's porn-books and magazine. Hideki was extremely embarrassed by this and he had to find clothes to clothe Chii-chan. And that meant money...

He asked Shinbo Hiroshi, a friend and classmate of his for help. Hiroshi offered to help him check his Persocon with his own pocket-sized Persocon, Sumomo. But somehow, Sumomo went crash instead. A sobbing Hiroshi told Hideki that the Persocon he had picked out was a super-computer... In the end, he introduced Hideki to an expert in Persocon, Kokubunji Minoru.

So, Hideki bought Chii-chan to Minoru's house... on the way, he met and introduced the keeper of his appartment, Hibiya Chitose.

At Minoru's house, (it was a real huge house!) Hideki was shocked to see that he was only a Secondary one student... Minoru performed a check up on Chii and end up crashing four of his Persocon... At this time, a very pretty 'lady' walked out to offer her help. She was a Persocon made by Minoru.

Yuzuki, Minoru's Persocon couldn't find out where Chii was made. She believed that Chii had some security device or program which prevents her checking. Minoru analysed that Chii-chan was maybe the Lengendary Persocon, Chobits.

Minoru explained that Chobits were a special series of Persocon which had the independent ability of decision-making and thinking abilities... but this doesn't solve Hideki's problem... As Minoru requested Yuzuki to record Hideki's contact number, he noticed that Chii-chan was also recording it. In this way, Hideki had to teach Chii-chan all the things he can so that he can make full use of it.

Before Hideki left, Minoru had a strangely sad expression... warning him, "No matter how cute Chii-chan will be... you must never fall for it."

Upon reaching his apartment, Chitose met him at the gates and offered some of her old clothes to Chii-chan. The clothes that Chii-chan wore were too large for her as they belonged toHideki.

But due to the effect of reading too much porn-stuff... Hideki felt the need to get some undergarment for Chii-chan...  (^o^)

At his working place at the bar, Hideki met a fellow-worker, Oomura Yumi. Hideki asked her for her reason for not getting a male Persocon, instead of the bunny one. Yumi had a sad expression on her face..."It's kinda sad..." was her reply.

Hideki in order to teach Chii-chan more things decided to bring her out on a trip to the book shop. Chii-chan was wearing a uniform... she was so cute! At the bookshop, Chii took fancy of a book entitled "A City with no one". Hideki bought the book for her. (See "A City with no one")

In the evening, Minoru asked Hideki out... someone had sent an attachment to him with his posting of Chii-chan online.
