Torment
around me.
Torment in me.
Torment be with me.
And let us conquer our foes.
They do not understand our pain.
Do you?
No.
Not a soul can.
And for that,
We shall make them feel the torment...
The torment that inhabits my soul.
Torment around me.
Torment in me.
Torment be with me.
And let us conquer our foes.
They do not understand our pain.
Do you?
No.
Not a soul can.
And for that,
We shall make them feel the torment...
The torment that inhabits my soul.

Brief explanation to skill build:
1. Look at your horrible HP bar. You need to survive early game and that’s why
some early game attribute bonuses will be crucial, 1 level of Split Earth
helps you run away in emergencies.
2. Diabolic is your farming tool and early game killer spell. Of course you
should max it as soon as possible.
3. From level 8 onwards you have more HP, so you can afford to be more
aggressive. Here’s the time you get Split Earth to help your team.
4. Lightning storm is not a good early game spell. It consumes too much of
your mana (178 mana at level 4), making it inefficient in creeping. However
late game in team battles, if you can kill all the creeps in a few seconds,
whenever you cast lightning storm, the damage will be absorbed by the heroes
only. At this point it will be moderately useful.
Since too many people don't understand why Lightning Storm is bad early game,
let me explain it here:
- Lightning Storm, at level 4, deals 265*5 damage = 1325 damage. Diabolic
Edict deals 1600 damage.
- Lightning Storm at level 4 cost 178 mana. I don't think there's any other
spell in DotA that consumes that much mana with that little effect. Tiny's
Avalanche, for example, does AOE 300 damage PLUS stun at 120 mana only.
- Using Lightning Storm as a single nuke is not good neither. Almost any
nuke spell can do more than 265 damage on a single target
- Early game you don't have that much mana. There's no point to get all 3
spells.
- For those who claim Lightning Storm is a good harassing spell, let's look
at it this way: If I'm against a Leshrac who uses Lightning Storm on me, the
first thing I do is to nuke him (I can't run away from the Lightning Storm
anyway), but almost all nukes do more damage than a Lightning Storm on a
single target, so overall the Leshrac won't gain any benefit from harassing.
In fact, given his low HP he'll very likely be the one that suffers.
Item Build
Recomended Item Build:
Starting items:
4 Ironwood Branches + Sapphire Water
1. Vitality Booster and Point Booster
2. Boots, Eul’s Scepter of Divinity
3. Another Vitality Booster and get Energy Booster to complete Soul Booster
4. Complete Guinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse if you have used up all cyclone charges, or
else get Diffusal Blade
5. Get Mystic Staff to complete Aghanim’s Scepter, upgrade Boots to Boots of
Travel, then complete Manta Style
6. Skadi.
Note: You'll need Blink Dagger if you're playing against heroes like Naix, AM,
Omniknight. That way you won't feed them. When playing against Pudge, KOTL,
you may need Linken's Sphere to stop their spells. In this case Aghanim's
Scepter can be gotten later.
Final Items:
1. Boots of Travel
2. Guinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse
3. Aghanim’s Scepter
4. Manta Style
5. Eye of Skadi

Brief explanation to item build:
1. The ironwood branches, together with early game attribute bonuses are
thesolution to your horrible early game HP. By level 6 you will have 190 bonus
HP, boosting your overall HP to 777. The following Vitality and Point Booster
do more or less the same thing. With all these items you’ll have around 1.3K
life at around level 11, thereby solving the early game feeding problem.
2. Sapphire water is better than Ring of Regeneration because you can stay in
lane longer. Also given your horribly low HP, one Sapphire Water is almost
equal to one fountain trip so it’s more convenient.
3. Guinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse always makes sense for Intelligence heroes.
4. Aghanim’s Scepter is good for Leshrac because it significantly boosts
Leshrac’s ultimate. Level 3 Pulse Nova deals 144 damage per second, meaning
you need to turn on pulse nova for 5 seconds to eliminate all creeps. With
Pulse Nova you can reduce the time by 1 second (20%)! Also, you have already
got Soul Booster so why not turn it to Scepter?
5. With Diabolic Edict and Pulse Nova, Leshrac can push very well and defend
the base very well. It is advisable to buy Boots of Travel so that he can push
multiple lanes. Also Boots of Travel works well with Diabolic Edict and Pulse
Nova. Turn on your spells and follow your preys = they can’t escape.
6. Manta Style is just to further improve your survivability.
7. When you have too much gold you may consider Eye of Skadi.
Strategy
General direction of playing Leshrac:
1. Leshrac is a pusher and a disabler, not a 1 on 1 hero killer. He's a pusher
because he can kill a full wave of creeps in less than 5 seconds (less than 3
heroes can do that). Also, he has an AOE stun, and has enough gold/ mana to
get Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse and Diffusal Blade. Sure you can play him as an 1
on 1 hero killer, but that is simply no utilizing his potentials to the
fullest.
2. Leshrac needs a lot of HP. You may wonder why I buy 2 Vitality Boosters and
a Point Booster for Leshrac early game. The reason is that he brings fear to
the enemy team only if it's not that easy to kill him. When Leshrac is alive,
his pulse nova will deal massive damage to all enemies, so staying alive =
killing enemies = helping your team. The more HP you have, the more damage you
can inflict upon your enemies. That is why I think the conventional Dagger
build is not that good because by blinking away you cannot contribute to your
team.
Skill Analysis
1. How to use Split Earth
a. Use Split Earth to create chaos in team battle: usually enemy heroes can
run away from Split Earth easily because of its long cast time. However in
team battles the situation is different. There’s a very high chance that you
can stun 1 to 2 enemies even if you cast it randomly in the battlefield. In
team battles, turn on your Pulse Nova and Diabolic Edict, followed by Split
Earth. All your enemies will scream in agony.
b. Use Split Earth to escape: this is almost self explanatory. When people are
chasing you, you can cast Split Earth right behind yourself to stun the
enemies.
c. Use Split Earth to comeback: When you have high MP but relatively low HP,
you can use Split Earth to stun the chasing enemies, turn on all your spells
and revenge. If you’re fighting against melee heroes, make sure you walk
reasonably close to your enemy but not within melee range so that they cannot
hit you. More often than not, your enemies rather than you will die.
d. Never ever use Split Earth to ambush an enemy unless you have Guinsoo's
Scythe of Vyse or if your enemies are dumb.
Split Earth's AOE is small (refer to the picture), and it has a 1.25 second
casting time. Under normal situations i.e. your enemies are not retarded,
Split Earth simply won't work. Sure you may argue that getting a Blink Dagger
may help you stun better, but Dagger has no synergy with your other skills --
no matter you stun an enemy or not, you can still use Diabolic Edict and Pulse
Nova to deal damage to your enemies. Stunning your enemies or not is
irrevalent. That's why I find Blink Dagger not worth.
AOE range of Split Earth: The top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right
screenshots refer to levels 1/ 2/ 3/ 4 Split Earth respectively.
e. Split Earth can destroy trees. Use it if necessary e.g. to kill Treant’s
Eyes.
2. How to use Diabolic Edict
a. Use it to farm before level 11. This spell deals 1600 damage overall
throughout the game, meaning its ability in farming is much much better early
game than late game (because the total HP of every late game creep wave far
exceeds 1600 HP). Use it early game to farm your boosters as soon as possible.
b. Use it to get first blood (on certain easy heroes). Diabolic Edict deals a
fixed amount of damage to all surrounding enemies i.e. if there is just 1
enemy around you, that enemy will receive up to 1600 damage!! Early game this
amount is insane. Use this spell just like Blade Fury early game. Follow your
prey closely and turn on Diabolic Edict. Follow him until he’s dead. First
Blood!
Who are good preys?
b1. Heroes with no Boots;
b2. Heroes without Blink Stun;
b3. Hero’s HP is irrevelant (Even a Centaur doesn’t have 1600 HP at level 7).
Using Diabolic Edict with Earthshaker

I love this combo. First get Earthshaker to fissure and block your enemy. Then
you just walk in and cast Diabolic Edict. As long as your Earthshaker ally
does his job properly, and that your enemy cannot blink, this is guaranteed gg
early game.
c. Use Diabolic Edict to kill towers. Diabolic Edict is the sickest spell
against buildings. 768 HP for just one spell is wrong. Similar to the case
when you use Diabolic Edict to kill heroes, you should position yourself next
to the tower such that the spells don’t go to nearby enemy units. One way of
doing so is to let your creeps engage with enemy creeps first, then go behind
the enemy tower and cast Diabolic Edict. Of course if you have Pulse Nova and
a lot of MP the situation is much more easier: Use Pulse Nova to kill all
creeps, and then turn on Diabolic Edict to kill the tower. Remember 2 full
Diabolic Edicts + a few attack on your own can kill a full HP tower!
Diabolic Edict Illustration:
As you can see from the replay, it's 28:24, and the tower is at full health.
I've killed all the creeps in advance so that all Diabolic Edict waves will go
towards the tower only.
Tis screenshot shows the scene at 28:34, 10 seconds after the first screenshot
was taken. Note that the tower's HP has gone to yellow already (it's actually
a little lower than 600). 1000 HP gone in 10 seconds!!!
d. Use Diabolic in team battles. Diabolic Edict still works even if you’re
dead! In this case, the waves will damage enemies around the area which you
die. Therefore it is crucial that you always turn on Diabolic Edict in all
team battles. Preferably turn on Edict before you enter the enemy. Together
with Pulse Nova, you’ll deal a lot of damage to your enemies even if you die.
3. How to use Lightning Storm:
Using this spell on creeps is stupid because this spell simply consumes too
much mana (178 mana at level 4!!!). Whenever you use this spell, you have to
make sure that the lightning storm goes to heroes, not creeps. How to achieve
this? In team battles, turn on your other three spells and enter the battle.
Kill all the creeps first, then use lightning storm. That way you'll be
certain that all damage will go to the heroes. Although lightning storm's
damage is low, if all 5 heroes are around, you're doing around 270 damage to
each hero, which is almost on par with a level 1 chain frost.
In fact this spell should be used exactly the same like you use Chain Frost
(kill all creeps before you use the spell). If you're a good Lich player you
should have no problem with using Lightning Storm
4. How to use Pulse Nova
a. Use it to farm creeps from level 11 onwards. Level 2 Pulse Nova is
reasonably strong, and you can kill all the creeps in 6 waves (600 AOE
damage).
b. Use Pulse Nova to create chaos in team battle: as mentioned above, turn on
Pulse Nova and Diabolic Edict, cast Split Earth in the middle of the chaos,
and run around your enemies.
4. How to use Guinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse offensively:
When you have Guinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse, you can use Split Earth offensively.
First hex the target, turn on all your spells and cast split earth. Now the
chance of stunning the enemy with Split Earth is quite high because the enemy
is hexxed.
5. How to use Manta Style properly:
a. Manta Style is for protecting yourself in team battles. Therefore the
proper way of controlling your images is to confuse your enemies when you’re
using spells. Keep your images close to you while you cast Pulse Nova and
Diabolic Edict. That way your enemies can’t tell which one is the true hero
and which ones are fake images (your images don’t have pulse nova so they have
to be close to you).
Walkthrough by game stages:
Early game:
Go to top lane for Sentinel, bottom lane for Scourge. Solo is not preferred
because you are too fragile, and the additional benefit of reaching level 6 is
not significant. Your major goal early game is to survive until you have got a
Vitality Booster and a Point Booster. Before that you’re too fragile to do
anything subsantial.
You should attempt to get first blood only if your lane heroes are “good
preys” as defined above. Otherwise, use Diabolic Edict to farm and stay back.
Get Sapphire Water to replenish your HP if necessary
After you have both boosters, you can be more aggressive and that’s why you
need more mana regeneration. Use Diabolic Edict to farm as usual until you get
Eul’s Scepter. Afterwards you should have enough mana to spam Diabolic Edict
or even Pulse Nova
Mid game:
Your mid game goal is to push and assist your teammates in team battles. Once
you have enough mana regeneration for BOTH Pulse Nova and Diabolic Edict, it’s
a good time to push. Use Pulse Nova for creeps, Diabolic Edict for towers. In
team battles, turn on all your spells to scare away your enemies, and use
Cyclone to help yourself and your allies to run away from danger.
Late game:
Your late game goal is more or less the same as your mid game goal, excpet
that you have more items spells at your disposal. Push all lanes with Boots of
Travel, and in team battles use all your skills PLUS your item spells e.g.
Purge, Hex to assist your allies. It always makes sense to purge heroes with
self-activated buffs e.g. Clinkz, Sven, and hex enemies with Weapon of mass
desturction e.g. Luna, Venomancer. Quickly push to the enemy base and kill
their racks, or teleport to wherever you’re needed to defend.
