Although different in many ways from the book, the music is a "Wonderful" mix of many different genres, capped off, in my opinion, by the power ballad "Defying Gravity."
"Wicked" has had the best opening on Broadway since RENT and is grossing more than a million dollars a week. Thanks to the soaring melodies of Schwartz, the fantastic vocals of Idina Menzel (Elphaba), Kristin Chenowith (Galinda) and the rest of the incredible cast, and the comepping story "Wicked" is fast becoming a powerhouse musical.
