| Nature Up and Down The trees that stretch to the brightening sky The dew of early morning tears The birds that raise their voices in song The sun, expert quieter of fears The grass, springy beneath our feet The flowers sprouting from the earthen floor The Widows with their glistening webs The worms digging in tunnels ever-more Agreeable little cricket chirping to the sky always playing music for the now and then passerby Melancholy Basset hound always with his chin to the floor quiet and thoughtful always moping at the door Simple as the river's laugh or happy as the rolling hills Soothing as the cloud's travel across the sky or content as the love bird's trills Mournful as the willow's dance or foreboding as the crow's sharp cry Callous as the winter trees angry as the strom's crawl across the sky Nature comes in many ways Not always pleasant and gay But then again the world comes in many colors Not all of them gray Cathy 1-25-03 |
