Section 1 � What is Warez?
The �technical� definition of warez from Dictionary.com is:
/weirz/ A term that software pirates use to describe a cracked game or application that is made available to the Internet, usually via FTP or telnet, often the pirate will make use of a site with lax security.
Dictionary.com also adds a little note that says: Software Piracy is illegal and should be reported to the Federation Against Software Theft! HA! Yea right!
My view on the legality of warez or pirated software can be found in the �Why is Warez Good?� section of this guide.
It�s not really hard to figure out where the word warez came from. Think�. softWARE�.. If you are new to this whole illegal thing then you should know something. To make something illegal on the internet take the word and add a �z� to the end. This worx for most things, such as: gamez, warez, romz, emulatorz, crackz, serialz, isoz, downloadz, sitez, computerz, dogz, catz. OK I realize some of those don�t make sense� just trying to make a point.
Section 2 � Why is Warez Good?
Now, any warez veteran will easily be able to give you several million reasons why. First of all it�s FREE!! Since when is free a bad thing??? For example�. You want to get the program Adobe Photoshop. You have the choice of either going to the store and spending 1000 dollars buying a legal COPY of it, OR you could go online, find a legitimate(this word will come into play later on) warez site, download it, and depending on your speed, have your �own� illegal COPY within a couple of minutes to a few hours.
Now, which of those options would you choose? I know there�s going to be some goody-2-shoes� out there saying, �Well I would buy it because that�s the legal and RIGHT way.� If you think that way� DO NOT CONTINUE WITH THIS TUTORIAL! YOU HAVE NO PURPOSE READING THIS!
Let me enlighten you with my ideology. Despite what some people and companies say, information can and should be free. The internet is the perfect trading center for information. What is software, just a collection of information. Taken down to it�s purest form it�s just a bunch of 1�s and 0�s. Do you really want to pay $500 dollars for a series of 2 numbers??? Also, although information should be free, I am not encouraging the thought that everything else should be free too. Physical objects and things you can touch and feel, you should have to pay for. So to sum it up I�m saying: �STEAL� SOFTWARE = GOOD , STEAL PHYSICAL MERCHANDISE = BAD.
Section 3 � Can I get in trouble???
This the question most people want to know. Is the FBI going to come to my house, arrest me, and throw me in prison for the rest of my life??? On the most-part, NO! First of all, what you have on your computer is private, although there are ways for people or �authorities� to monitor what is on your computer, there is VERY slim chance of that happening. You would have to be under an investigation of some sort in the first place before they would do that. Second of all, THE FBI OR CIA DOES NOT GIVE A S*** ABOUT YOU! No offense, but they have better things to deal with than small time software �thieves�. There are only a few ways that you could actually get in trouble. Here is a list of what NOT to do:
DO NOT�
? Openly or (if you�re really paranoid), privately sell the warez software that you pirate to other people.
? Post a list or any other such thing describing your collection of warez.
? BE STUPID! Use common sense people!
DO�
? Protect your computer with a hacker detection and blocking software like, BlackICE.
? Use any anonymity software you can get your hands on, such as anonymous proxies, and firewalls. Basically don�t advertise yourself, instead try to hide in the shadows of the internet underworld.

Now with all the preliminary crap over with, lets move on to the good stuff.
Section 4 � Methods to Obtain Warez
Hey congratulations, u decided to continue on with guide and learn how to gain some free software. Alright, students the first thing we�re going to cover is the types of warez. Now, all these types do not take MUCH computer knowledge, since we are not actually going to be programming. OK there are different types of warez. Here they are:
? Pure, Unadulterated, Full-version Warez(non-ISO) � Ya don�t see much of this stuff anymore, now everything�s either ISO or demo-crack/patch. This you can download from warez sites, MIRC channels, p2p filesharing appz etc. They usually come as MANY compressed files as usual with warez.
[ USUALLY SMALLEST IN SIZE ]
? Full-ISO Warez � Warez that comes in form synonomous to that which is found on it�s retail CD.
[ USUALLY LARGEST IN SIZE ]
? Demo + Crack/Patch Warez � This is a nice clean way to get some warez. Basically you download a company�s �TRIAL� version of the target software, and then using a special app called a crack (or patch) you alter the program�s code to recognize u as a Registered User. NOTE: This usually only works if the trial program is a TIME TRIAL.
[ VARIES IN SIZE ]
? Simple Serial Registration Warez � This is where u utilize the wonderful application, Serials 2000. Basically, download a demo program u want, and IF(big if) it has a �enter serial number� registration area u use a valid serial # to register it.

Well, there u have it� the different types of warez. Now I�m sure if you sat down and really thought hard u could probably find more types, but these are the main ones.
Section 5 � Searching For and (Hopefully) Finding Warez
Alright, this section covers the whole ordeal of actually finding the warez u want. This is the biggest pain in the @$$ besides slow modem speeds. Unfortunately because warez �lives� on the dark side of the internet, it�s not exactly stable, easy-to-find or guaranteed, but for every 5 illegitimate crap porn advertisement site, there�s at least 1 legitimate hard-working warez-providing site. Quick Note About Porn: If you are in any way opposed to seeing pornographic material, then you will find that this task is not 4 u. Even the legitimate warez sites have porn ads. It�s how they make the money to keep their site going. But for all u normal men, and possibly women I�m sure you�ll survive the barrage of nudity.
Now, there are several options u have for searching and downloading warez.
? The Internet � The WWW, The information superhighway, the link between us and the outside world. This is the main area to find warez. I suggest trying some good warez search and top sites, such as http://www.SolarWarez.com
? mIRC � The wonderful IRC chat program that connects the underworld. I�m not going to explain how to use it in this guide so if u wanna download it and learn it, go to the mIRC site. (www.mirc.com) Lets just say that it can be useful if u know how to utilize it.
? File-Sharing Apps � These things are a dime-a-dozen these days, all trying to do what Napster did. You can probably find some warez here. I personally suggest either BearShare (www.bearshare.com), or LimeWire (www.limewire.com)
? FTP � For this searching method u will either need a FTP app or use a FTP search website. To use FTP you�ll need to find the address and possibly the login information for a warez server. A good FTP app is BulletProof FTP. In fact, after the walkthrough�s why not make it ur first warez target. Get the biggest FTP list at http://www.SolarWarez.com
Section 6 � A Non-ISO Prog Walkthrough
Now, I know u�r all excited but try to calm down. =) This is the first of the four demo walkthrough�s. They�re basically �Guided Pirating�. Before I say anything else, I�d like to give credit to any and all site URL�s I use in my guide. Now, below are the tools you will need for our first project:
- WinRAR or WinACE (both available from the �Tools� section of my site.)
- A browser, preferably Netscape or Internet Explorer
- GetRight or GoZilla (both available in the �Tools� section) *OPTIONAL*
Alright my little warez troops, our first target is: AudioCatalyst.
AudioCatalyst is a nice little app for MP3 stuff and such.
OK, lets get down to business. For this particular app I have skipped the whole searching thing since I already knew where it was. So the download for this program is at this link: http://members.home.nl/riddla/appz01.html
Scroll down until u see the AudioCatalyst logo. Ignore the thing that says �Click here to enable the download�, that�s is USUALLY a bunch of bull, just to get u to vote for them or something. Look at the place where it says �Files: 1 2 Vote 1 Vote 2�. Once again ignore the Vote 1 and the Vote 2. Just click on the number �1� to download the first file. Done yet? Alright, now click on the number �2� to download the second file. Alright, once you have both files downloaded, use WinRAR or WinACE to open the �AudioCatalyst_2.1.rar� file. With RAR and ACE archives make sure u always open the �.rar� or �.ace� file first. Now press the extract button and extract it to wherever u want. Then open the �.r00� file and extract that too. Don�t worry if it gives u an error, sometimes that happens with warez. Now go to that folder, then double click the .exe that is there. Install and enjoy! Congratulations, you have just pirated a piece of software.
Section 7 � An ISO Prog Walkthrough
Tools Needed:
- WinRAR, WinACE or other such apps.
- GetRight, Gozilla *OPTIONAL*
- A browser (OBVIOUSLY)
- Fireburner or another CD burning app that supports *.ISO, and *.CUE files
OK, now let�s move on to your first somewhat difficult target. Alright, for this one, we�re going after the wonderful CD burning software from Roxio, Easy CD Creator 5. Now, here�s your task, you have to use your warez searching techniques to find preferably 8 x 15.0 MB rar files, for Easy CD Creator 5. Basically, just make sure it�s in an ISO format and fairly large in size. Why am I making you find your own link to this one? Well, I could give you some crap about how it�s the first test of your skills, but I�m not going to bullshit you. In all actuality I have the files myself, I just lost the link to them. (Yea I know, everyone beat me over the head with a blunt object) SORRY!
OK, if you�re up to this point you have found the files you want. There should be 8 consecutive RAR files, if you�ve found the version made by Risciso. Extract them all to one directory. You should end up with 2 files, Rscecc5p.cue and Rscecc5p.bin. Double click on the cue file and it should automatically open your CD burning software. If not just go into the CD app and open it manually. Just follow the directions and burn a CD.
Alright your CD is burnt right? If not BURN IT ALREADY! Now, put it in your comp and open it. There should be a setup file. Start the setup. It looks normal right? THAT�S BECAUSE ITS ISO! That�s the point of ISO. When you get to the point where it asks for a serial number, consult the .NFO that should have come with the RAR files, or use this one: P-7TGQ4-G06CM-N5G1L
Section 8 � A Demo and Crack/Patch Walkthrough
Tools Needed:
- WinRAR, WinZip .. Ah you get the idea�
- Browser
- The CRACK (mentioned later)
- GetRight, GoZilla *OPTIONAL*
Ah, this type of warez is sentimental to me� if that�s possible�.lol. This is the first thing I did when I found out you could get software for free. The first thing I did was crack all of Macromedia�s products, cause they make it SO ~CeNsOrEd~ EASY! Me and my associate Netpro2000 first cracked these progs with cracks made by Ivanopulo. I think he quit developing as an individual though and joined the �~CeNsOrEd~�group.
Anyway, I�m not going to use a Macromedia product in this walkthrough, because frankly I �own� all of them, so it�s useless to me. What? You thought I wasn�t getting anything out of these walkthroughs?
OK, lets get down to business. Our target for this mission is: MemMonster 9x Basically, it�s a memory utility. You can find it at www.download.com just search for it. While you are downloading that, let�s all take a minute to thank whoever invented Shareware and Time Trials, because through the use of cracks, they are SO easy to pirate. Alright, if your done move on to the next step.
The next step is to download the crack obviously. Before that though, make sure you have installed MemMonster Trial. Run it once to see what it looks like unregged. Now go to www.cracks.am and go to the �M3�(Third page of �M� section) section. Download the appropriate crack, which in this case is: MemMonster 2001.
It�s a VERY fast download and you should end up with a *.REG file and an *.NFO. Read the NFO�s they are useful. Double-click the *.REG file and click Yes you want to add it to the registry. And there.. its done.
Congratulations you now have the full version of MemMonster 2001.
Section 9 � A Simple Serial Registration Prog
Tools Needed:
- You know the drill, if you don�t leave now.
- NEW THING: Serials 2000 (found in tools section)
WOW! You made it to the last walkthrough. Good job, this has been a hell of a lot of typing. Alright, this is by far the easiest thing to do. Sometimes it�s not even necessary, but let�s do it anyway.
Our target for this training exercise is: AI Picture Utility 5.0. Again you can find the download for this at www.download.com . O yea, and my thanks to the wonderful people at Cnet for making download.com. Alright, if you have finished that download. Extract and install. Go through the motions. U know what I mean. Now open Serials 2000. Make sure u have all the updates to the present date. Look for AI Picture Utility Version 5.0. Click it and look in the bottom window. That window displays the serial number and name. Open the newly installed program. Go to Help>About. Click Unlock Code or Register or something like that. Enter the values u have found in Serials 2000. Restart prog. And ta da you own it.
Good Job! The Walkthrough�s are complete.
Section 10 � Glossary
Here is the section to consult if you don�t understand some of the words I use. This glossary contains some other miscellaneous terms you might wanna know along with the piracy definitions. This glossary is also not finished, so although it has only a few definitions now, check back� it�ll grow.

0-Day Warez � A term that warez sites use to show that the software is fairly recent, not necessarily uploaded that day.
[A]
ACE, C** File � A compressed file created with WinACE. Can be decompressed with WinACE or WinRAR.
Alpha � The earliest version of a program. Hasn�t even begun to get the bugs out of it yet.
Anti-Leech � A web programming technique to prevent other warez sites from linking directly to another�s files.
Appz � The utility branch of warez. This covers applications, such as Adobe Photoshop 6, Macromedia Dreamweaver 4, and Easy CD Creator 5.
B
Backup � A term used by people who don�t want to get in trouble with copyright infringement. Usage: �Only order this �backup� CD of Office XP if you own the original version� HA yea right.
BBS � No, not British Broadcasting, actually Bulletin Board System. A posting forum used on the internet for people to communicate.
Beta � The next stage of software development after Alpha. Has been somewhat debugged.
BSA � Business Software Alliance, dedicated to anti-piracy. A.K.A �The Enemy�

CD-Key � Synonymous to a serial number. Used most often with ISO programs.
CD-R � A recordable CD that can be burned ONCE with a CD burner or writer.
CD-RW- A rewriteable CD that can be burned more than once and erased.
CGI Script � BEWARE of these. When searching for warez make sure that a link that you are going to click is legitimate. Otherwise you may end up with a million ad windows open. Just look for the word cgi? In the address. It usually means it�s a bad link. USUALLY!
Codec � Compression Format. Such as MPG, ASF, MP3�etc. Makes smaller files.
Crack or Crackz � A very small and VERY useful program. Use cracks to disable the copy protection of games and software. See Section 8 for a walkthrough.
CRC Error � A deadly error that you DO NOT want to see while decompressing a RAR or ACE file. Basically, you�re screwed. Try downloading it again or try another site.
[D]
Decompressing � The opposite of compressing. =) Use WInRAR or WinACE to decompress RAR or ACE files.
Direct Downloads or D-Dl�s � Useful links sometimes. Refers to a direct link to a file instead of to a website.
Dl or Downloading � The act of taking information from another source and saving it on your computer�s HD.
DivX � A promising but failed codec, used to compress large DVD movies into �tiny� files small enough to fit on a CD-R.
DivX � Also known as My Divx (www.mydivx.com) a new form of the Divx Codec that works very well. I should know.. I have �The Matrix� and �The Patriot� on a CD. =)
*.DIZ File- A file that usually comes with ZIP or other compressed files. It�s a brief description of the file.

Egg � Used in software terms, it means a small piece of fun code that is hidden in a program and is shown when a certain procedure is performed.
Emulator or Emulatorz � A program that simulates the environment of another device such as Nintendo, Playstation, Palm, etc�
[F]
FAQ � Frequently Asked Questions, basically a tutorial or help file in a question and answer format.
Flaming � Using words to attack someone. Not recommended if ya want to make friends on the internet.
Freeware � What all software SHOULD be. A piece of software that you never have to pay for and can freely distribute.
FTP � File Transfer Protocol, A way to download or upload files from the internet. Try BulletProof FTP for this task.

Gamez � The games branch of warez. This includes games such as Red Alert 2, Black and White�etc�
[H]
Hacking � The act of breaking into a remote computer through Telnet or another method and accessing its files. ILLEGAL. Today it�s usually for the purpose of stealing something. In the good old days the hackers had a code of honor, that involved not damaging the remote system.
HTTP � Hyper Text Transfer Protocol, comes before the www in a URL. The method u use to surf the web.
[ I ]
ICQ � An instant messaging program, kind of like AOL IM. Some people like ICQ better some like AIM better. I prefer AIM because you don�t have to remember #�s just sn�s.
IP Address � It�s basically your name on the net. It�s usually 4 sets of numbers separated by periods. Many sites log these, they can be used to identify you at a later time.
IRC � Internet Relay Chat, Another way of chatting, except this is more advanced. You can transfer files and other things. A good prog to use for this is mIRC.
ISO or ISOZ � Warez in it�s original retail CD form.

Key Generator or Key-Gen � The highest level of serial number cracking. These tiny programs use an algorithm within the target program to specially generate a unique serial number for any name you desire.

Leeching � The act of linking to another site�s files and taking credit for it. This is highly frowned upon in the Warez community.
LOL � Laugh Out Loud, internet term, means something�s funny.
[M]
mIRC � A popular program to access IRC channels with.
Mirror Site � A site set up on different server that looks exactly like the original. It�s for backup purposes in case the original goes down.
[N]
*.NFO File � A small text file usually attached to warez releases, they have directions, descriptions and credits on them. They can be opened easily with Notepad.
[O]

Patch � Legal Version: A small program released by a game or application�s designer to fix some bug or problem. Also may be used to update software. Illegal Version: Same thing as a crack, just in more legal terminology. I remember I had a computer teacher who was in on piracy with me, and he wanted us to use the word patch instead of crack in case some administrator heard. LOL
Piracy � Didn�t I define this already? Anyway� it�s the unauthorized copying, distribution, or sale of copyrighted material.
Pop-Ups � Small OR large annoying windows that pop up when you visit a warez page, they usually want you to vote or click. My opinion? They should be banned! They are so f****** annoying.
Prog, Progz, or Proggies � All mean the same thing, applications.

*.RAR File � A compressed file made by WinRAR. Can be decompressed using WinACE or WinRAR.
*.REG File � Hey didn�t we use one of these in a walkthrough? Adds information to the system�s registry. Usually used to crack a prog.
Rom or Romz � A smaller file that can be opened using an emulator. Has to correspond to the emulator obviously.

Serials or Serialz � A working number and usually name for a program. Just input it in the correct boxes and you �own� the app. See Serials 2000.
Shareware � A step up or down from freeware. Either a time trial or a feature lacking version. You have to either pay, try, or crack it. I choose the latter.
Spyware � Bad stuff. Certain programs install these other programs on your hard drive. These programs can monitor what you do. Get rid of them immediately with Ad Aware.

Top List � A listing of the top warez sites based on voting. Examples are T69 and Warez.com Top Sites, both of which I am a member of� hint hint�.
[U]
Unzip � Decompressing the information in a ZIP file made by WinZip or another zip app.
Upload � Opposite of download. =)
URL � The website address you type in to u�r address bar.
[V]
VCD � Video Compact Disc, A compressed file, almost DVD quality kind of like Divx.
[W]
warez � O� I wonder what this entire tutorial has been about�..PIRATED SOFTWARE!

XXX � Porn, you�ll probably see this a lot on warez sites, if you don�t want porn don�t click it.
