WHOLE FLOCK FOR SALE !!!
We are relocating from central Ohio to the east coast
and must sell all of our sheep ASAP !

At Flint Ridge Blackbellies we raise American Blackbelly sheep, a breed created here in the United States. The American Blackbelly are a horned breed and should not be confused with the rare Barbados Blackbelly which is a polled(without horns) breed.

The American Blackbelly is a cross between the three different sheep breeds, the Barbados Blackbelly, the Mouflon and the Rambouillet.  This cross breeding produced different shades of tans, browns and reds in their coat. This breeding choice also developed a variety of differnt horn types. These magnificant horns make the American Blackbelly a prized animal among sportsman.

Since Blackbelly sheep are a hair breed they grow a thicker winter coat in the fall and shed their coat in the spring.  Due to this shedding, there is no need for sheering unlike the wool breeds.

We breed for a more deep reddish colored coat in our sheep. Fast horn growth and a full thick mane for the rams. Our goal is to breed healthy hair sheep for top quality meat and a prized trophy animal.

We are located just outside of Newark Ohio,  between Newark and Flint Ridge State Park.
"Cinnamon" our herd breeding ram. Almost a year and a half old at the time of this picture.
