| a will power for mobile performance. Drill-downs, formations, colour guard and new music are just some of the exciting ideas to come to the marching band for this year as well as the usual parade detail. |
| Scheduled practices start in early March/April and are for anyone who can play |
| a concert band instrument. (See list of intruments.) Music will be handed out and memorized, then correct marching form and technique will be taught. As time permits, the band will also be introduced to other various elements of marching band i.e. colour guard, drumline cadence and field shows. |
| knowing how to play an instrument. This "showy" part of the marching band is marked by equipment such as flags, ribbons, sabers and wooden rifles. For purposes of efficiently introducing the colour guard this year, we will only be using flags and ribbons. Colour guard members must show outstanding musicianship and be able to execute a definite sense of rhythm and time keeping, even if they don't play an instrument. Practices for colour guard will start much earlier than for the marching band (see schedules) and attendence is critical.
