Drive Thru
When in line at the drive thru, be patient. You're sitting in your nice warm (or cool in the summer) car. You have music to listen to, and usually a friend to talk to.
Sure, there may be a line, but we'll get to you. Don't yell at US if it's taking a while. There are sandwiches, bagels, and soup to be made, as well as, cookies, muffins, donuts, croissants, and biscuits to fetch. Not to mention, making the coffee, hot chocolate, and cappucinio. Sometimes there are three people in the drive thru area. Usually there are only two, and sometimes even one!! If you're in a hurry, dont come to tim hortons. We cant just skip all the cars for you. The person in front of you may have just ordered 4 bagels and 2 sandwiches. YOU try to make those things in under 20 seconds, it just doesnt happen.
When pulling up to the drive thru speaker. Wait a minute. We're serving a customer if we dont answer right away. Dont pull up and say "hello?!!" "HELLLLLOOOO" it's really annoying. Also, dont tap on the speaker, honk your horn, whistle, turn up the radio, talk about how slow we may be, fake cough, or start talking on your cell phone. These things are annoying. We're not serving you, only because we're busy. We know you're there. A loud beep in our ear phone lets us know that you have arrived at Tim Hortons. We will get to you. And when we dont get to you in 5 seconds, dont drive thru, and say..."i thought it was broken.." cause no, it's not broken, and it never has been broken, and if it ever was...dont you think we'd put up a sign. So hold your freeking horses!
When you pull up to the drive thru window. Smile. Say hello...we always say hello and smile, and we always say, 'have a nice day'.
Dont stick your hand out your window with your damn money in hand, and keep your hand out there for your change, not making eye contact. Taking your sweet time to put your change away and then continue to stick your hand out the window, still not looking at the employee, waiting for your one coffee. This is just plain rude. Sure, we're doing a service, but still be nice about it. When you go to work, I'm sure that people are rude to you too. You dont like it, do you? Be friendly, it makes the day go by much more quickly.
Mistakes
Sometimes we make mistakes. Simple mistakes. Dont rip your hair out because of it. Tell us if your order is incorrect, or if we forgot something. Yelling just makes us angry. A simple, "oh, i'm missing a coffee..." or "excuse me, but i ordered a double-double, and this says black..." would be appropriate. You have NOT been in line for fifteen minutes. It's only been three. We know how long you've been waiting, and we are always rushing around to accomidate YOU. It would be different if we were talking to everyone at the window, or if we were fooling around and taking our time. But we're not. We're doing our job, as fast and as well as we can. If you dont like it. Then dont come here.
It's very hard to talk to rude customers, though we do it every day. Just because you're getting old, and you're grumpy, doesnt mean that you have to yell at us for wasting your precious time.
Also, if we're missing your favourite bagel, dont be angry. Simply say you dont desire it anymore, or pick another. Dont throw a hissy fit, there's no need to draw attention to the employee or yourself because there are no more 'everything' bagels. WE run out. It happens. Sure, we cook them, but the person who is assigned to cooking bagels today, may have been helping you and didnt' have any time to put them in the oven. Understand that we are only human, we only have two arms...not ten.
Money Matters
We are not trying to rip you off. The price is correct. It says it there on the till. Three coffies cost $3.76...nothing less or more. Four coffies cost $5.38, yeah...a difference. A tip: The price goes up after four dollars. There IS tax. It's not like we punched in an extra donut, or a cookie to rip you off. Why would we want to do that? What would we want with a cookie...we get them free anyway. Our job is to serve you, not to make you angry. Sandwiches are expensive, and when it comes to seven dollars you freak out. Did you forget to look at the prices on the signs? Oh, yeah...it DOES say that tax is added, and the price changes if you pick a cookie instead of a donut, or juice instead of coffee. Duh...
It's also not our fault that an item costs as much as it does. If you have a beef with it, then talk to the manager! That's what he/she is there for!!
