Stars Jodie Foster Kristen Stewart Forest Whitaker Dwight Yoakam Jared Leto Official Site The Story Recently separated from her rich hubby, Meg Altman (Jodie Foster) wants to start a new life with her daughter Sarah. She buys a huge cosy house, which comes equipped with a panic room. The panic room is a small room off the main bedroom encased in steel, complete with video screens, ventilation system, own phone line, toilet, fire blankets, but apparently no food! Apparently the previous owner has died and has left something in the panic room. Enter the baddies. Baddie one the dumb mastermind played by Jared Leto (nice braids)! Baddie Two the smart technical dude with a heart, whos just doing it for his family (Forest Whitaker). Baddie Three the gun-toting psycho who was brought along by baddie one (Dwight Yoakam). Jared Leto is the late owners grandson who after nurturing the old guy before he died was told something was in the panic room. The plan being to break into the house before the new people move in and steal the thing. Oops. Meg and Sarah moved in a week too early DOH!! So Meg and Sarah escape the baddies clutches by racing into the panic room. All would have gone so well if the damn kid wasnt diabetic and the fact that the baddies arent leaving till they got what they came for. Critique I thought it was hella good! From the sweet-ass titles at the start of the movie to the inevitable ending, it was a classic thriller. Parts of it were pretty funny too. Director David Fincher (who also directed Fight Club and Seven) uses pretty fancy camera work at one stage I was starting to feel a little woozy! But it all adds to the suspense, and it was very suspenseful. I wouldnt say it was scary but it definitely gave me the creeps. Jodie Foster was fantastic I cant even imagine Nicole Kidman doing half as good a job (She was originally cast in the Meg Altman role but had to withdraw after a knee injury sustained in Moulin Rouge). There were a couple of plot holes but you get that. Over-all the character development was good albeit formulaic, the story was good, the camera work and direction spectacular and the acting excellent. GO AND SEE IT!
