Most people in the UK know Flickerstick as the winners of VH1's emmy  award nominated show Bands On The Run. The show followed 4 unsigned bands across America as they played to audiences who had never heard of them. However each of the bands had to make enough money via ticket sales and merchandise to stay on the tour. One band was kicked off the tour after each battle of the band show. This was the band with the least money made, however in Flickerstick's case it was the band with the 2nd least money made that got the boot. The winners of the battle of the band shows were exempt from getting kicked off, Flickerstick with their excellent live show of course won all 3 of the battle of the bands, the final one deciding who won the whole competition and prizes such as $100,000 worth of instruments, $50,000 cash and the chance to make their own music video!!!
After Bands On The Run, Flickerstick found instant fame, particularily in America. However now the backlash has set in and the band are constantly labelled as that tv band and aren't given the same respect as many other indie bands. So was doing Bands On The Run a bad thing? The band certainly don't think so, repeatedly saying that they'd do it again. Fans in the UK are also glad they entered the Bands On The Run competition, without it we'd have probably never heard of them!!!
