Stephen and Riva went to San Francisco, Stephen for business and Riva for R&R. San Francisco is a fascinating city. The Cable car museum, which shows you how they work, is well worth the visit. Good restaurants, especially the seafood and noodle houses. The beaches must be great - there was so much traffic on the Shoreline highway (No. 1) on Saturday afternoon that we couldn't get to Stinson Beach. We took the Panoramic Highway instead, and the view was just that! Spectacular! The traffic is everything that people say about it. Never saw so many cars on so many lanes before. I'm told that people are all going shopping, and that shopping is the favourite pastime of Californians... While we were there, we had the chance to finally meet up with J. Robert Flexer (descendant of Shmuel Flexer from Vidczy in Lithuania) and and his wife Anne Genevrier Flexer, who run a jewelry store in Berkeley. Have a look at the photos (courtesy of Bob!!) We had a lovely evening at the Benissima restaurant in Corte Madera (18 Tamalpais Ave), where they were performing as the duet Cappuccino (violin, woodwinds, classical guitar). Food was excellent and so was the music, which you can catch on Friday and Saturday nights... |
