The first word out of those poor petrified people's mouths will be 'It was Hagrid.' Frankly, I'm astounded Professor McGonagall thinks all these security measures are necessary. - Gilderoy

Chapter One of the "H-I Fan's Version"

By Winky

It was early in the morning. The sun was slowly rising on the quiet street of Privet Drive, and though most people would be peacefully sleeping at this time, there was at least one person who was awake.
Harry Potter was an almost 15 year old boy, who lived with his aunt and uncle, Mr. And Mrs. Dursley on Privet Drive. But the most remarkable thing about Harry Potter was not that he had no parents, and not that he had an oversized cousin called Dudley who beat him every chance he had, and not that he was hated by all his family, and not that he had a lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead, but the most remarkable thing about him was that Harry Potter was a wizard and attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Harry Potter had been awake for already nearly two hours. He was awakened by his owl Hedwig, who had just returned from a long journey with a letter.
Let me sleep Hedwig, its only 3 in the morning. Harry said as Hedwig nipped his left ear, but she wouldnt stop. Hedwig, stop that! Ok, ok, Im up! He said as he blundered for his glasses. When he finally found them he untied the letter from Hedwigs leg and she flew out the window, probably to look for some mice. Harry stared at the folded piece of parchment. What was so important to have wakened him at this hour? He carefully opened the letter just to see that it was from- - Hermione!
He started reading it amazed, what was so important?
Dear Harry,
Hi, how are you?
I hope this letter hasnt caused you any trouble, I asked Hedwig to give it to you the minute she gets there.

Harry smiled.
I just cant wait until you get this letter, I have such great news!
Remember when Dumbledore said you cant go to Rons house for the summer? Well, I just got permission from Dumbledore that you can come and spend the rest of the summer holiday with me! Ive invited Ron too, so we can all go to Diagon Alley together too. Well, I hope your aunt and uncle let you come, send Hedwig back with your answer as soon as possible, or maybe it will just be faster if you call me, heres my number:

And there followed Hermiones number and address.
I really hope they let you come. If they do, well come to pick you up as soon as possible. Talk to you soon.
Love, Hermione.

Harry folded up the letter and put it down on his table. This was so great, he didnt know what to do first! To spend the rest of the summer with Hermione and Ron, away from the Dursleys, he had been waiting for this moment since he got off the Hogwarts Express!
Harry was just about to run down stairs and ask Uncle Vernon if he could go, when he heard a huge snore from Dudley, and then he remembered. It was only 3:30 in the morning, and everyone was asleep. But that didnt matter. He was sure Uncle Vernon would let him go, anything to get rid of him! And since he couldnt go back to sleep, he simply decided to spend the rest of the time packing his trunk.
It was about an hour later when he finally finished packing all his stuff. He now tried to think what else he can do. He had already finished all his homework in the first two weeks of the summer, and there was no point of eating breakfast now, so he went over to the window and looked outside.
Harry liked Privet Drive at this hour. It was all dark and quiet. All the neighbors were asleep and all the lights were off. But wait, not all the lights were off!  In the house across, the house where Mrs. Figg lived, all the lights were on. This puzzled Harry for a while. Why was old Mrs. Figg, who used to baby-sit him before he went to Hogwarts, was doing up at this hour?
And then something happened!
The house began to blink, vanish, and then a few seconds afterwards reappear and then vanish again. It was doing that for quite a while, and between glimpses when it was visible, Harry could see the shadows of two figures, Mrs. Figg and Was that a wizards hat?
Was he seeing things?
He climbed back into bed figuring he was tired and wasnt seeing well... or was he?
Boy!! he was awaken a few hours later by his uncle. Get down here right now! Harry scrambled to his feet and ran down stairs, wondering what he had done this time. Get this stupid little fur ball out of my sight! his uncle shouted as Pigwidgeon flew around his head while Dudley was cowering in the corner of the kitchen. Harry grabbed the little owl and pulled the small note off its leg. He started reading it on his way up the stairs.
Dear Harry,
Hi, how are you?
Did you get the message from Hermione already?
It will be so great spending the rest of the summer together! I just wish we could spend it in my house, Hermione will probably make us read books for the rest of the summer!
Oh well!
See you in a few days!  -Ron

Harry, who was almost at the top of the stairs now, turned right back and ran down them again.
Uncle Vernon, He said, now remembering what happened just a few hours ago. What is it now boy? His uncle groaned. Er, well, my friend Hermione just wrote to me and. Is this girl from that school of yours? Uncle Vernon said suspiciously. Yes, but I dont want to hear about it! But she offered to me to go stay with her for the rest of the summer No! But I said No! Uncle Vernons face was going red. I am not having my house blown up to pieces again. Now go to your room! But her parents, theyre mugg- I said go to your room and get out of my sight!! But Get! His uncle yelled, his whole face turning purplish-red and his hands on his moustache. Harry stormed up the stairs in rage. Why wont his uncle let him go? This was so unfair Harry could scream. He pulled open his bedroom door, already planning on taking his broom out of its hiding place and flying away when he stopped. In the middle of the room was-- Sirius?! Harry yelled, dropping the note.
