Rupert was the first of 5 children born into the Grint family. Thirteen-year-old Rupert enjoys acting very much and has been in numerous school plays such as "Annie" (or in the UK, called "The Little Orphan Annie").
Being a big fan of the Harry Potter series, he said he is very similar to his character, Ron. He has a sweet tooth,dislikes spiders,and has a big family (and he has red hair).
After hearing about an open casting call for the movie on BBC's Newsround, Rupert sent in a photo and resume. Later on, he sent a tape of him playing Ron, then he also dressed up as his female drama teacher,and finally created a rap in which he said why he wanted to and should be Ron. This earned him multiple screen tests and meetings with director Chris Columbus and Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling.
Rupert says he likes being a star and having people know his name. He says its "cool". He will be in the upcoming film "Thunderpants". He had to get a 4-hour perm to play this part! We look forward to see Rupert in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets!
