Wolfson 4 - Fletcher 2
The Wolfson Wolfpack (18-1) were able to hold off the Fletcher Senators (9-8) tonight at Wolfson. Fletcher started the game off hot by scoring two runs in the first. But those two runs would be all they earned. Devin Gonzalez lead the team offensively with two doubles and an RBI, and Griffin Brown hit the ball hard all night. But Wolfson ace Eric Hurley was dominant from the second inning on. Fletcher starter Justin Preckajlo lasted three innings, giving up two runs. Jason Hiers then took the mound with the game tied at two a piece. He pitched the next 2 2/3 innings giving up two runs (only one earned). The Senators were able to stay in the game against a dominant team on a night when they didn't even play 'A' quality ball, a tremendous feat considering the way Wolfson demolished them in their first outing. This should help boost the team moral in good timing. The Gateway Conference tournament takes place next week on Monday - Thursday. Fletcher takes on Leee in the first round at Fletcher. The winner of that game will move on to play the winner of the Jackson-Sandalwood match up.
