Sandalwood 8 - Fletcher 7
The Sandalwood Saints defeated the Fletcher Senators (5-5) in extra-innings on an unusual play tonight at Sandalwood. The game started when Justin Preckajlo took the first pitch of the game deep, for his fifth home run of the season. Sandalwood came back to tie the game in the bottom half and started a cycle of rotating leads for the rest of the game. Jason Hiers pitched well enough to get the win, but sloppy defense forced him to give up several unearned runs keeping Sandalwood close. Chris Zambelli relieved Hiers and pitched three and a thirds innings of scoreless ball. Fletcher was tied with the Saints for several innings until the bottom of the ninth when closer Todd Buck (1-1) threw a wild pitch allowing Sandalwood runner Jessie Felix to score the winning run with two outs. Fletcher will take on Terry Parker in a huge district game Friday.
