Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
As a controls systems specialist, I am responsible for implementing all facets of instrumentation, controls, and/or Systems Integration (SCADA) projects. Tasks included the proposal and estimation of costs and schedules, design and coordination of control panels and control logic, PLC programming, SCADA development, and total system integration.
- C.C.P.U.D Rocky Reach Juvenile Fish Bypass, Wenatchee, WA
- Juvenile fish surface collector and bypass conduit on hydroelectric dam. Developed control systems for hydraulic power units, screen cleaner systems, and flow control with hydraulic control gates. This was a government, multi-contractor project utilizing diverse controls experience in a fast-pace, highly visible environment. Much cooperation and communication with client was critical in producing a positive and rewarding outcome.
- Control panel design
- Allen Bradley SLC 505 programming (DeviceNet and Remote I/O)
- PanelView 1000 HMI development
- Expertune analog PID tuning
- Systems commissioning and startup
- Development of test procedures
.
- HP Corvallis (IJBU/ICBD) FAB HVAC Upgrade, Corvallis, OR
- Engineering Lead to provide turnkey controls design for a new 600 HP hot water boiler, two 55,000 cfm makeup air handlers, associated recirculation air handlers, and Life Safety design.
CryoFuel Systems, Inc
Plant Development / Engineering
2001 - 2002
Monroe, Washington
Process Engineer
As a process engineer, I was responsible for development and engineering design of LNG, alternative fuel processing, and associated processing projects. Tasks included the inception and development of creative process designs and novel engineering solutions for cryogenic and fuel processing applications. The application of engineering comes in plant process modeling, thermodynamic and mechanical calculations, design (or specification) of equipment, and general engineering documentation. Staff organization and vendor/client coordination is always a priority to create quality and value added products.
- Contributing process engineer developing flagship gas processing and liquefaction plants utilizing engineering fundamentals and process evaluating tools.
- Have nurtured knowledge in LNG and cryogenic systems safety. Have developed an intimate familiarity with NFPA 59A and essentials of process safety.
- Directly managed controlled process documentation to ensure quality and efficient project path.
- Successfully completed a 90-day certification-training course outlined specifically for process and cryogenics design applications. Focused on ensure thorough engineering documentation.
- Specific areas of proficiency include: Thermodynamic cycles, alternative cryogenic refrigeration design, adsorbent process systems (PSA/TSA), gas purification, cryogenics piping and insulation, heat exchanger design, gas compression and expansion, flash and distillation processes, cryogenic pumping and storage.
