Lewis Wiley Fletcher, Sr., 80, of Suitt Street in Durham, died Wednesday morning at his residence. Mr. Fletcher was a lifelong resident of Durham and was the son of the late Emma Belle Perry Fletcher and the late Willie Wilson Fletcher. He was the founder of Quality Electric Company and a veteran. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services are Friday at 2 p.m. at Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hudson Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Surviving are his wife, Pat Hall Fletcher; daughters, Diane Johnson and husband, Tommy, of Durham and Sandra Lindenmuth and husband, Bill, also of Durham; son, Lewis Wiley Fletcher, Jr., and wife, Elizabeth, of Durham; four sisters, Grace Chauncey of Lake Waccamaw, NC, Virginia Jordan of Leland, NC, and Julia Currie and Helen Davie, both of Durham; and six grandchildren.

Carolyn McGranahan Fletcher, 74, of Greensboro passed away on January 9, 2009 after an extended illness. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11th, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel in Greensboro, N.C., with internment at the Maplewood Cemetery in Durham. Mrs. Fletcher was a graduate of Durham High School and Woman�s College (UNCG) and was a retired Greensboro City school teacher. She was born on Dec 7, 1934 in Durham, N.C. to the late Robert and Emmie Bullock McGranahan. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, C. Wayne Fletcher; son, Andrew Fletcher and wife, Emily of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Angela Harvey and husband, Justin of Sandy Ridge; and three grandchildren, Carson, Gage and Allison Fletcher.

Johnny Douglas Eaton, 60, died Wednesday of a sudden illness. Johnny was the husband of Donna Marie Currie and the son-in-law of Julia Fletcher Currie and the late Jack Currie. In addition to Donna, survivors include his mother, Mary Frances Eaton; daughters, Jamey Sanderford and Dawn Schlangen; and son, Todd Eaton. The family will receive friends Friday evening at the home of Julia Fletcher Currie on Fletchers Chapel Road in Durham, with a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Hudson Funeral Home Chapel, 211 South Miami Boulevard, Durham, NC 27703. Rodney Hughes Fletcher, 39, of Durham, N.C., died Saturday at Durham Regional Hospital. Mr. Fletcher was previously employed by Carolina Princess Head Boat as a First Mate in the fishing business in Morehead City, N.C. He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Dowd Fletcher, Jr. Mr. Fletcher is survived by his mother, Bonnie Blue Thomas Fletcher of Durham; brother, Dwayne Fletcher and wife, Sandy; sister, Teresa Burch and husband, Jim; and 4 nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham, with Rev. Jeff McCarthy, Rev. Trey Wells, and Rev. Randy Rabon officiating. Cornelius �Corny� Edward Fletcher, Sr., 73, of 5112 Sky Lane Drive, died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at his home. Mr. Fletcher was a native of Durham, the son of the late Elvis E. and Vida Clayton Fletcher. He was owner and operator of Triangle Painting Co. and owner of C.E.F. Realty Co. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Fletchers Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was church treasurer for 25 years. He was a 1951 graduate of Oak Grove High School and attended N.C. State University. He was involved in the organization of Oak Grove Athletic Association and served on the Board of Directors and as treasurer for 13 years. Surviving are his wife, Louise Sanders Fletcher of Durham; a son, Cornelius E. �Neal� Fletcher, Jr. of Durham; two daughters, Karon Murray and husband, Bob of Durham and Bambi Fletcher of Durham; a stepson, Tony Skipper and wife, JoAnn of Oxford; four grandchildren, Will Murray, Lee Murray, Nicholas Worley and Janae Coleman; and a very special cousin who was like a brother, Osborne Royster. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Shambley. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hudson Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Clarence Parrish and the Rev. Michael D. Weber. Burial will be in the Eno Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chuck Fletcher, Kent Fletcher, Randy Fletcher, Wesley Holder, Walter Holder and Jimmy Hall. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Hudson Funeral Home in Durham and at other times at the home, 5112 Sky Lane Drive. Billy Massengill, 67, of 10 Lyliston Lane, Newport News, VA, husband of Sue Fletcher Massengill, died Friday morning at Riverside Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m. at Penninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Boulevard in Newport News. The funeral will be held at the chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. In addition to Sue, survivors include a daughter, Susan Massengill of Newport News; a son, Rusty Massengill (Karen) of Newport News; two grandchildren, Eric and Zack Massengill, both of Newport News. J.D. Fletcher, 92, of 302 E. Delafield Ave., died Wednesday afternoon at Durham Regional Hospital. Mr. Fletcher was a lifelong resident of Durham and was the son of the late Emma Belle Perry Fletcher and the late Willie Wilson Fletcher. He was retired from Kenan Oil Company and was the former owner and operator of Fletcher�s Grocery in Braggtown. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Braggtown Baptist Church. A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Braggtown Baptist Church by Mr. Norman Stallings. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. For 67 years, he was married to his high school sweetheart, the former Fannie Mae Lloyd, who preceded him in death in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Eva Carbeau Fletcher of Durham Rest Home; one son, Charles Wayne Fletcher and wife, Carolyn of Greensboro, two brothers, J. D. Fletcher and wife, Margaret Ellen and Lewis Fletcher and wife, Pat both of Durham; four sisters, Julia Currie and Helen Davie both of Durham, Grace Chauncey of Lake Waccamaw and Virginia Jordan of Leland; two grandchildren, Andrew Fletcher and wife, Emily of Atlanta, Ga., Angela Fletcher Harvey and husband, Justin of Orlando, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Carson, Gage and Allison Fletcher of Atlanta, Ga.; three step-children, Tammy Williams and Gray and Larry Sullivan and many nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Bragtown High School. He was owner and operator of Fletcher�s Gulf at Foster and Geer Streets, a fifty years veteran member, Mason of Eno Lodge #210, Past Master and certified lecturer and a member of Duke�s United Methodist Church.
