Adam Christopher Dorsey ,son of Kim Fletcher Dorsey and Robert Charles Dorsey was born September 12th, 2009. Grandparents are Kent Fletcher and Betsy Jones Fletcher. Great-grandparents are Margaret Booth Fletcher and the late JD Fletcher.

Kristen Johnson Burch and husband, Neil, gave birth to Natalie Grace Burch on April 17th, 2009. Kristen is the daughter of Tommy and Diane Fletcher Johnson and the granddaughter of Pat and the late Lewis Wiley Fletcher, Sr..


In Loving Memory: Lewis Wiley Fletcher, Sr.

December 15, 1928 - February 11, 2009

Lewis Wiley Fletcher, Sr., 80, of Suitt Street in Durham, died Wednesday morning at his residence. Mr. Fletcher was a lifelong resident of Durham and was the son of the late Emma Belle Perry Fletcher and the late Willie Wilson Fletcher. He was the founder of Quality Electric Company and a veteran. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services are Friday at 2 p.m. at Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hudson Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Surviving are his wife, Pat Hall Fletcher; daughters, Diane Johnson and husband, Tommy, of Durham and Sandra Lindenmuth and husband, Bill, also of Durham; son, Lewis Wiley Fletcher, Jr., and wife, Elizabeth, of Durham; four sisters, Grace Chauncey of Lake Waccamaw, NC, Virginia Jordan of Leland, NC, and Julia Currie and Helen Davie, both of Durham; and six grandchildren.


Kim Fletcher Dorsey, daughter of Kent and Betsy Fletcher and the granddaughter of Margaret Booth Fletcher and the late JD Fletcher; and her husband, Robert Dorsey are expecting their first child in September.

In Loving Memory: Carolyn McGranahan Fletcher

December 7, 1934 - January 9, 2009

Carolyn McGranahan Fletcher, 74, of Greensboro passed away on January 9, 2009 after an extended illness. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11th, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel in Greensboro, N.C., with internment at the Maplewood Cemetery in Durham. Mrs. Fletcher was a graduate of Durham High School and Woman�s College (UNCG) and was a retired Greensboro City school teacher. She was born on Dec 7, 1934 in Durham, N.C. to the late Robert and Emmie Bullock McGranahan. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, C. Wayne Fletcher; son, Andrew Fletcher and wife, Emily of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Angela Harvey and husband, Justin of Sandy Ridge; and three grandchildren, Carson, Gage and Allison Fletcher.


In Loving Memory: Johnny Douglas Eaton

October 28, 1948 - October 28, 2008

Johnny Douglas Eaton, 60, died Wednesday of a sudden illness. Johnny was the husband of Donna Marie Currie and the son-in-law of Julia Fletcher Currie and the late Jack Currie. In addition to Donna, survivors include his mother, Mary Frances Eaton; daughters, Jamey Sanderford and Dawn Schlangen; and son, Todd Eaton. The family will receive friends Friday evening at the home of Julia Fletcher Currie on Fletchers Chapel Road in Durham, with a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Hudson Funeral Home Chapel, 211 South Miami Boulevard, Durham, NC 27703. In Loving Memory: Rodney Hughes Fletcher

July 1, 1969 - September 27, 2008

Rodney Hughes Fletcher, 39, of Durham, N.C., died Saturday at Durham Regional Hospital. Mr. Fletcher was previously employed by Carolina Princess Head Boat as a First Mate in the fishing business in Morehead City, N.C. He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Dowd Fletcher, Jr. Mr. Fletcher is survived by his mother, Bonnie Blue Thomas Fletcher of Durham; brother, Dwayne Fletcher and wife, Sandy; sister, Teresa Burch and husband, Jim; and 4 nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham, with Rev. Jeff McCarthy, Rev. Trey Wells, and Rev. Randy Rabon officiating. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family is being assisted in Durham by Clements Funeral Service, Inc. and in Morehead City by Brooks Funeral Service. Justin Mitchell and wife, Tiffaney, gave birth to Parker David Mitchell on September 11th, 2008. Justin is the son of Julie Mitchell Fletcher and the step-son of James Douglas ("Doug") Fletcher, II, step- grandson of James Douglas ("Jimmy")Fletcher, I, and Carolyn Roberson Fletcher and the step great-grandson of Margaret and the late JD Fletcher.

Corey Daniel Fletcher , son of Elizabeth and Lewis Wiley "Chuck" Fletcher, II, and the grandson of Pat and Lewis Wiley Fletcher, received his Eagle Scout Award on August 9th, 2008, at Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church. Corey completed 29 merit badges and received several scouting awards on his trial to Eagle.
Todd Lindenmuth, son of Sandra and Bill Lindenmuth and the grandson of Pat and Lewis Wiley Fletcher, is a 2008 graduate of Cresset Christian Academy. He will attend Pennsylvania State University in the fall.
Lee Fletcher Murray, son of Karon Fletcher Murray and Robert Murray, grandson of the late Cornelius Fletcher, Louise Fletcher and Ruby Batten, and great-grandson of Estelle Rowland and the late Elvis and Vida Fletcher, is a graduate of Jordan High School.
Corey Daniel Fletcher, son of Elizabeth and Lewis Wiley "Chuck" Fletcher, II, and the grandson of Pat and Lewis Wiley Fletcher, is a 2008 graduate of Southern High School. He will attend East Carolina University in the fall.
Brittany Anne Osbourne, daughter of Dina and Robert Jack Osbourne, granddaughter of Patricia Currie Neems and Frankie Osbourne, Sr., and great-granddaughter of Julia Mae Fletcher and the late Jack Currie, is a 2008 graduate of Northern High School.
Robert Charles Dorsey, husband of Kimberly Lynn Fletcher Dorsey, son-in-law of Kent and Betsy Fletcher, and grandson-in-law of Margaret and the late J.D. Fletcher, is a 2008 graduate of Vance-Granville Community College's School of Nursing where he received his associate degree in nursing.
NEW LOCATION FOR THE 2008 REUNION:The 2008 Fletcher Family Reunion will be held at Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church and will begin at 12:30 p.m. on June 1st, 2008. Reunions will no longer be held at the Oak Grove Ruritan facility.
Hannah Marie Lindenmuth, daughter of Bill and Sandra Fletcher Lindenmuth, and the granddaughter of Lewis and Pat Fletcher, is engaged to Tyler Strayhorn.
Kristen Nicole Johnson, daughter of Tommy and Diane Fletcher Johnson and the granddaughter of Lewis and Pat Fletcher, was married to Clement Neil Burch on Saturday, April 5th, 2008, at Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church in Carolina Beach, NC.


Todd Lindenmuth, son of Sandra and Bill Lindenmuth and the grandson of Pat and Lewis Wiley Fletcher, was named Cresset Christian Academy's 2008 Homecoming King.
Jacey Lea Fletcher daughter of Jason Fletcher and Ashley Laws Fletcher was born November 29th, 2007. Grandparents include Randy Fletcher and Barbara Gallagher Fletcher. Great-grandparents include Margaret Booth Fletcher and the late J.D. Fletcher.
Zachary David Gates, son of Penny Davie Gates and David Gates, grandson of James Carver Davie and great-grandson of Helen Fletcher Davie and the late William Carver "Billy" Davie, graduates from Northern High School on June 8th, 2007.
Lewis Wiley "Trey" Fletcher, III, son of Elizabeth and Lewis Wiley "Chuck" Fletcher, II and the grandson of Pat and Lewis Wiley Fletcher, will graduate from N.C. State University this summer and has been accepted into Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary for the fall.
Jason Fletcher, son of Randy Fletcher and the grandson of Margaret Booth Fletcher and the late JD Fletcher, and his wife, Ashley Laws Fletcher are expecting their first child in November.
Betsy Fletcher, wife of Kent Fletcher, was elected 2006 president of the Exchangette Club of Durham. The chapter is one of only a handful of Exchangette Clubs still active.

In Loving Memory: Cornelius "Corny" Edward Fletcher

September 19, 1932 - June 29, 2006

Cornelius �Corny� Edward Fletcher, Sr., 73, of 5112 Sky Lane Drive, died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at his home. Mr. Fletcher was a native of Durham, the son of the late Elvis E. and Vida Clayton Fletcher. He was owner and operator of Triangle Painting Co. and owner of C.E.F. Realty Co. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Fletchers Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was church treasurer for 25 years. He was a 1951 graduate of Oak Grove High School and attended N.C. State University. He was involved in the organization of Oak Grove Athletic Association and served on the Board of Directors and as treasurer for 13 years. Surviving are his wife, Louise Sanders Fletcher of Durham; a son, Cornelius E. �Neal� Fletcher, Jr. of Durham; two daughters, Karon Murray and husband, Bob of Durham and Bambi Fletcher of Durham; a stepson, Tony Skipper and wife, JoAnn of Oxford; four grandchildren, Will Murray, Lee Murray, Nicholas Worley and Janae Coleman; and a very special cousin who was like a brother, Osborne Royster. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Shambley. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hudson Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Clarence Parrish and the Rev. Michael D. Weber. Burial will be in the Eno Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chuck Fletcher, Kent Fletcher, Randy Fletcher, Wesley Holder, Walter Holder and Jimmy Hall. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Hudson Funeral Home in Durham and at other times at the home, 5112 Sky Lane Drive. Flowers are acceptable, or donations may be made to a charity of one�s choice.


William Clayton "Will" Murray, son of Karon Fletcher Murray and Robert Murray, grandson of Cornelius and Louise Fletcher and Ruby Batten, and great-grandson of Estelle Rowland and the late Elvis and Vida Fletcher, graduates from Jordan High School on June 10th, 2006. He will attend the University of North Carolina at Asheville in the fall.

In Loving Memory: Billy Lee Massengill

June 4, 1938 - March 17, 2006

Billy Massengill, 67, of 10 Lyliston Lane, Newport News, VA, husband of Sue Fletcher Massengill, died Friday morning at Riverside Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m. at Penninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Boulevard in Newport News. The funeral will be held at the chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. In addition to Sue, survivors include a daughter, Susan Massengill of Newport News; a son, Rusty Massengill (Karen) of Newport News; two grandchildren, Eric and Zack Massengill, both of Newport News. Also surviving are two sisters; Phyllis Wynne (Bill) of Durham and Edna Sorrell of Newport News, and three brothers, Lindell Massengill of Newport News, Frank Massengill (Mary) of Hilton Head, SC, and Jamie Massengill (Pat) of Lake Lure, NC. Memorial gifts may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23666.

J.D. Fletcher, 92, of 302 E. Delafield Ave., died Wednesday afternoon at Durham Regional Hospital. Mr. Fletcher was a lifelong resident of Durham and was the son of the late Emma Belle Perry Fletcher and the late Willie Wilson Fletcher. He was retired from Kenan Oil Company and was the former owner and operator of Fletcher�s Grocery in Braggtown. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Braggtown Baptist Church. A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Braggtown Baptist Church by Mr. Norman Stallings. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Clements Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers are acceptable, or friends may make memorial contributions to Braggtown Baptist Church, 3218 N. Roxboro Rd., Durham, NC 27704. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Ellen Booth Fletcher; a daughter, Sue Massengill and husband, Bill, of Newport News, VA; three sons, Jimmy Fletcher and wife, Carolyn, of Yorktown, VA, Kent Fletcher and wife, Betsy, and Randy Fletcher and wife, Barbara, all of Durham; four sisters, Grace Chauncey of Lake Waccamaw, NC, Virginia Jordan of Leland, NC, and Julia Currie and Helen Davie, both of Durham; one brother, Lewis W. Fletcher of Durham; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

James Douglas ("Doug") Fletcher, II, son of James Douglas ("Jimmy")Fletcher, I, and Carolyn Roberson Fletcher and the grandson of JD and Margaret Fletcher, was married to Julie Mitchell on Friday, September 9th, 2005, in Yorktown, Virginia.

Kimberly Lynn Fletcher, daughter of Harold Kent and Betsy Jones Fletcher and the granddaughter of JD and Margaret Fletcher, was married to Robert Charles Dorsey on Saturday, June 4th, 2005, at Grey Stone Baptist Church in Durham.


Lewis Wiley "Trey" Fletcher, III, son of Elizabeth and Lewis Wiley "Chuck" Fletcher, II and the grandson of Pat and Lewis Wiley Fletcher, and Hannah Marie Lindenmuth, daughter of Sandra Fletcher and William "Bill" Lindenmuth, and the granddaughter of Lewis Wiley & Pat Fletcher, both graduated from Southern High School on May 27th, 2004.
Brandy Leigh Osbourne, daughter of Dina and Robert Jack Osbourne, granddaughter of Patricia Currie Neems and Frankie Osbourne, Sr., and great-granddaughter of Julia Mae Fletcher and the late Jack Currie graduated from Northern High School on May 27th, 2004.

December 11, 1907 - February 29, 2004

For 67 years, he was married to his high school sweetheart, the former Fannie Mae Lloyd, who preceded him in death in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Eva Carbeau Fletcher of Durham Rest Home; one son, Charles Wayne Fletcher and wife, Carolyn of Greensboro, two brothers, J. D. Fletcher and wife, Margaret Ellen and Lewis Fletcher and wife, Pat both of Durham; four sisters, Julia Currie and Helen Davie both of Durham, Grace Chauncey of Lake Waccamaw and Virginia Jordan of Leland; two grandchildren, Andrew Fletcher and wife, Emily of Atlanta, Ga., Angela Fletcher Harvey and husband, Justin of Orlando, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Carson, Gage and Allison Fletcher of Atlanta, Ga.; three step-children, Tammy Williams and Gray and Larry Sullivan and many nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Bragtown High School. He was owner and operator of Fletcher�s Gulf at Foster and Geer Streets, a fifty years veteran member, Mason of Eno Lodge #210, Past Master and certified lecturer and a member of Duke�s United Methodist Church. Jason Fletcher, son of Randy Fletcher and the grandson of JD & Margaret Fletcher, was married November 15th, 2003, to Jennifer Ashley Laws at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Hurdle Mills, NC.
Kim Fletcher, daughter of Kent and Betsy Fletcher, granddaughter of JD & Margaret Fletcher, is engaged to be married to Robert Charles Dorsey of Bahama. They plan a June 4th, 2005, wedding at Grey Stone Baptist Church in Durham.
Randy Fletcher, son of JD and Margaret Fletcher, married Barbara Ann Gallagher on October 18th, 2003, at Spruce Pine Lodge in Bahama, NC.
