I spent most of September through December 2002 living in Sydney. Knowing nobody apon my arrival in Australia left me with some interesting decisions. I moved in with two older fellows and started working almost immediately. After a brief stint in the office I decided that rather than waste my time behind a computer I should get outside. {This is the reason why people travel, isn't it?} To get outside I started landscaping for a fellow named James Edwards, a great Aussie bloke. He taught me the ropes and told me to get out of Sydney and REALLY see Australia... and so I did Christmas 2002 brought some new experiences at the "Arts Factory" in Cape Byron. Byron Bay, as it is refered to, is a lovely surf town about 10 hours north of Sydney. Byron is one of the more frequented traveler spots, with good people, music and lifestyle. I have to say that the surfing wasn't so great, but the people were fantastic. Johnny Rose, an English fellow, set up an 80 person Christmas beach barbeque and all ate to satiety. To top off this occasion I met a fantastic girl named Svenja, who is now my partner. We headed back to Sydney for New Years and off to New Zealand together. This is the sweet travelers life, and it only gets better. I hope the pictures are enjoyable... click on any box to see an enlargement. |
