1. Changed
the tow bar. Increased size to 1 inch tubing. Reason: when it is
being towed by 4-wheeler the weight
and bumps on trail tend to bend it and soon the front of trommel is dragging
along.
2. Added trommel
barrel chain/sprocket guard to top of hopper. Reason: when shoveling rocks/dirt
to hopper sometimes
you over throw into sprocket/chain on barrel this can cause barrel lockups.
(when rocks get between chain and the
sprockets) this will stop the barrel and your productivity.
3. Added chain
guard to rear of trommel above motor. Reason: many small rocks/dirt
find their way down here somehow
and will cause a lockup here too. Also it is a safety cover to prevent
little fingers or big ones from getting mangled. I think
this and the above hopper guard has almost completely eliminated my lockups.
4.
When using the new design with A51 sluice you should change discharge trough
to wider one. Reason: when I was up
at Blue Bucket I noticed the sharper peices of rock would climb up the
side of barrel and fall out of it farther over and
miss the small discharge trough completely and land in the sluice. This
caused sluice build up and plugs the flow at the
end of it.
5.
When using tube type tires you should put some tube type Slime in them.
Reason: on my last trip out we found many
Goat Head sticker patches and each tire had multiple holes in them so many
in fact I refuse to try and patch them.
So the easy answer for this and future problems with flat tires is to put
the green Slime in them . Great stuff and its
available everywhere. One small bottle will do both tires no problem.
If you have suggestions on my design I would like to hear from you ... Thanks Bill
