ROSSOMAHAAR show in R-club, Moscow on December,
17.
If my memory doesn't let me down, the whole thing took place in R-Club on
January, 17. I believe that I don't even need to mention that the show started
an hour later than it was supposed to. The band-list contained four Moscow-based
bands: Black Square, Possession, Midgard and Rossomahaar, the latter being the
headliner of the evening. Frankly, I was negatively shocked by the sound
quality, the musicianship of the opening "acts" and the audience, which mostly
consisted of brainless teenage kids with toothpaste-covered faces. Black Square,
the band which was the first one to play, were simply disgusting! Some sort of
late Entombed performed on acoustic guitars. After their pathetic set was over
the stage was taken by Possession, which were even worse. They couldn't even
handle their instruments properly. This statement is especially relevant to
their "drummer". Pathetic!!! The third piece (of shit) was Midgard. A cheap
parody on slavonic Black Metal. Nothing more to say. After all that circus was
over and the clowns were gone, Rossomahaar members showed up on stage. Having
completed the soundcheck in just a few minutes, Lazar & co. let loose the
musical violence. During their set the sound became surprisingly powerful and
crystal clear. An unexpected fact that deeply pleased me. The guys brilliantly
performed around 6-7 songs from their debut "Imperium Tenebrarum". Brutality,
speed, high technical level are the most proper notions to characterize
Rossomahaar's performance. Too bad there weren't many people among the audience
who could appreciate it. In fact, I'm still wondering why did a band like
Rossomahaar took part in such an amateurish show. (Krasniy; 26.01.2002)
