Our current adoption status.....
June 2004 Update:
We continue to wait for our I-171H approval which means Immigration and Naturalization has approved us to adopt.  The next step is to send our documents to the Kazakhstan Embassy in Washington D.C.  After the documents are translated, they will be sent to the Department of Education in Kazakhstan.  There are 2 departments that must approve our application. Finally, after approval, we will receive a letter of invitation from the Kazakhstan government stating we are free to travel to Kazakhstan.  Assuming there are children ready for adoption, we will then apply for a visa here in the U.S. and plan to travel.  We are tentatively hoping to travel in October.
JULY 2004 UPDATE
Our I-171H was approved on July 12, 2004.  It sat on a supervisor's desk until July 26 until Kyle walked into the INS office and just asked for it!  Go figure!  Now our documents are all translated at the US Embassy in Washington D.C., and will be sent to Kazakhstan over the next week or two.  We are still on target for an October travel date!
JULY 29 UPDATE
We received a call from Kim Burghart of His Kids Adoptions.  She said that Yackov, wants us there on October 19, 2004, the date several children come off the registry.  We will be there!!
AUGUST 16 UPDATE
Found out today that our dossier is in Department 1 in Kazakhstan.  It will be forwarded on the Dept. 2 then to our region.  Our agency told us we should have no problem traveling in October.  We are planning on leaving October 16th to be there in plenty of time.
