Literacy and Math Centers |
| I went to the dollar store and bought plastic buckets for my literacy and math centers. I have 10 literacy and 5 math center buckets. They are numbered and named as follows: Literacy: 1. Letters 2. Phonemic Awareness 3. Words 4. Writing 5. Story Time 6. Reading 7. Rhyme Time 8. Skills 9. Pocket Chart 10. Listening Math: 1. Numbers 2. Counting 3. Sorting and Patterns 4. Colors and Shapes 5. | How I Schedule my Centers: Right now I have four tables that are color coded. Sometimes I have 5 tables. For four tables, I use 8 literacy centers and 4 math centers. For five tables, I use 10 literacy and 5 math centers. My schedule is put on the board with magnets so I can change it each day. The colors for each table are at the top. They are separate from the center numbers because the table colors never move. I just move the sheets with the centers listed. The centers are also color coded so they know to do the literacy first and the math last. The first day the red table goes to literacy centers 1 and 2 and math center 1. They do them in the order they are listed on the chart. The next day, red table does literacy centers 3 and 4 and math center 2. I just rotate the sheets with the centers listed. (Monday's Schedule) Red Table Orange Table Yellow Table Green Table 1 3 5 7 2 4 6 8 1 2 3 4 (Tuesday's Schedule) Red Table Orange Table Yellow Table Green Table 3 5 7 1 4 6 8 2 2 3 4 1 Keep rotating the centers each day. One thing I like about this, if we miss a day doing the centers, we just take up the next day where we left off. |
