Can Your Religion Change You?

Can Your Religion Change You?

Simply put, yes it can. For religion is a system of rules and regulations that seek to place restraints upon our actions. A more pertinent question would be, Can your religion make you acceptable in the eyes of a Holy God?

Religion may change your outward behavior, but it cannot change your inward state. For you see we are all born sinners. For we all inherit a sin nature from our progenitors, Adam and Eve. Therefore it will take more than religion to make us acceptable to a Holy God.

The good news is, that God is not only a Holy God, but also an all Loving God. For God knowing our inability to make ourselves acceptable to Him provided a way, a means whereby we can be made righteous in His sight, not only in our outward behavior, but also in our inward state.

But there is only one way to obtain this righteousness from God. And that is not by any external religious observations. For as stated above, outward changes cannot produce a change in our inward state. To receive this righteousness from God, all God expects from us is to simply but sincerely acknowledge that we are sinners and incapable to save ourselves by any means.

And to believe that He in His great love for us sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, thus paying the debt of sin we couldnt pay for, was buried, and rose again to prove that the sin debt was paid. When we simply believe this, then God imputes, or places to our accounts His righteousness, and we are made acceptable to Him.

So the real question is, are you going to trust in your religious works to make you acceptable to God, or will you take Him at His Word, and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ?
