God Almighty, birth and death are in Your hands. Why this tragedy in New York should be, we all ask. Forgive us, Lord, if we cannot help but wonder how You, our loving God, could allow this horrible violence to happen to these innocent people. But Lord, help us to realize that violence is the product of man, for You give us all the freedom of choice. And by choice it was man himself who changed Your plan, and now Your children are the innocent victims of this sinful act. O God, have mercy on their souls. Lead them to a life that is free from pain and tears, where joy becomes eternal and time is not counted by years.
Lord, it seems so unbelievable that this could have also occurred so suddenly to shatter the lives of their loved ones they have left behind. Help their families pick up the fragmented pieces of their broken lives. Comfort them and help them find their ways through all of this. Let them find peace in Your presence, and cling to the assurance that You will always dwell in them.
We humbly ask you, O God, to guide all the rescue workers, doctors, nurses, firemen and policemen as they strive to save lives and maintain peace and order. Grant them Your gift of perseverance, strengthen their bodies, alert their minds, and protect them from all dangers.
Almighty Father, we pray for President George Bush and the American people. Enhance their faith! Grant them courage, and grace under pressure. Remind them during this time of crisis that Your ways are beyond us, and that there are so many things in life that we cannot fully understand, yet they must continue to take counsel and refuge in You.. And so, may You hold America in Your hand, O God, so that it will remain a nation built on Faith, Truth and Love. |
