The Hollywood Foreign Press Association presented the 42nd Annual Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom.  Amadeus won the following awards:
BEST PICTURE (Drama)
BEST ACTOR (Leading Role) -- F. MURRAY ABRAHAM
BEST ACTOR (Supporting Role) -- JEFFREY JONES
BEST DIRECTOR -- MILOS FORMAN
BEST SCREENPLAY -- PETER SHAFFER
The Los Angeles Film Critics Association bestowed the following awards upon Amadeus:
BEST PICTURE
BEST SCREENPLAY -- PETER SHAFFER
BEST ACTOR (Tie) -- F. MURRAY ABRAHAM and ALBERT FINNEY ("Under the Volcano")
The Directors Guild of America named Milos Forman Best Director of 1984 for Amadeus.
The Grammys presented their award for Best Classical Album to Amadeus: The Original Soundtrack Recording, Sir Neville Marriner conducting the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
Amadeus: The Original Soundtrack Recording was the first classical music album to reach gold record status in the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Brazil, Sweden, France, and Canada.
