The Nebraska On-line Cold War Museum
Over the expanses of Nebraskan sandhills, rangeland, and the rolling hills of the east, peace reigns supremely over the quiet lands. Much of the state is barren, and much is taken by the farms. The prairie winds sweeping across the old railroad towns, the grain elevators reach in from the north to make the grasses sway once more. A few gusts will push against the ruins of a nearly forgotten conflict. The solid concrete structures, the mounted berms of soil, the foundations of buildings whose time have long past.

The grasses are slowly reclaiming the lands that the government built and paid contractors to create massive and elaborate complexes specifically built to destroy entire populations of people. These are the ghosts of the Cold War, a war fought within the state of Nebraska as well as across the globe from the United States to Africa to Asia to even the North Pole.

The fears of nuclear conflict have passed on but many of those monuments to the war of words still stand.

The Nebraska Online Cold War Museum was created to stop the loss of the stories and the legends that were the men and women of the American armed forces who served their tours within Nebraska. The state's Cold War monuments are falling as well, but with support, the dangerous days of the Cold War  and the impact it had on Nebraska will not be forgotten.
