Scouts or Warriors?

The age old dilemma. Well actually its not that great a dilemma, most people take the scout, but there are many situations to consider before pumping out scouts for your pilots. Here is my rant on the use of scouts versus warriors.

1) Speed. Scout is faster. That is why most people want it! Numerous people take pride in saying "You cant hit what you cant see" but rest assured its not that much faster than a warrior. The speed of a scout, however, allows it to evade Ion Gun shots, but even amazing scout speed cannot evade Gun Spire shots. Gun Tower shots are easier to avoid, so thus, the scout is able to avoid many things the warrior is not capable of even trying. And... if you think I cant hit what I cant see, then realize this: Instantaneous fire weapons can hit people regardless of how fast they are going.

2) Cost. Scout is cheaper. 15 scrap for a modded scout under a modded warrior is a nice amount to save. You can make more scouts with the same scrap as you can warriors. Unfortunately scouts do not change unit count much, so even though they are cheaper, you still can't exceed the unit limit, and cant pack as much firepower into 30 units as warriors can.

3) Ammo. Warrior wins with 50% more. This difference in ammo, however, can allow the warrior to make up for its difference in speed! Equip a blink displacer and that extra 50% can jettison you back to base faster than a scout can. The ammo also allows a lot more ammo regenteration which means the warrior can stay in the battle longer and hit harder than a scout can.

4) Hull. Warrior, once again, hands down. Even with shields, the warrior can easily take twice the hits, which can tip a scale in a dogfight.

5) Weapons. The warrior gets a gun hardpoint. Not much to look at, better than nothing, but mostly it just gets in the way.

6) Heat signature. Warriors have four times more heat signature, thus, they attract FAF missiles very very well as opposed to scouts who can easily dodge all but well-aimed FAF's. The blink can sometimes can make up for this, however.

Now, since both use a cannon hardpoint, have a special and shield, the pros and cons above make scouts and warriors useful in different situations. In large maps, it may be more important to have more ammo and be able to blink large distances that it is for speed cause its a long walk home if you die: warriors are recommended. On small maps, the need for ammo is usually suppliable by a nearby base, which you can quickly access, so there really is not too much of an inconvenience: scouts are recommended.

Here's another way to compare it:
Scouts move 50% faster, Warriors cost 30% more.
Scouts have 50% Hull power (I looked it up =)), Warriors have 50% more ammo.
Take this into consideration when going into battle, and know what you need before you take your armada of scouts head on to a bunch of rocket tanks and lose 'em.
