| October 1, 2001 Today the crew from STS-105 came back to KSC to give a presentation of their mission and Dan got to meet the crew. After work, we all went shopping for a certain Mom and Dad who's birthdays are coming up pretty soon...I'm not going to tell who. October 2, 2001 Dan went into work early so that he could come home early, like Amy, to cut the grass, while Amy went to the post office to send some birthday gifts (still not telling who they are for). Since it was just about a perfect fall day, we ate pizza outside on the back porch. October 3, 2001 Another gorgeous fall day (yinz from Pittsburgh won't think 80 - 85 degree weather is very fall-like, but that's Florida for ya'll). Fall and spring are nice, we have all the windows open instead of the air conditioner running all day. After work, Amy went to Target for a wedding shower gift for Erik's (from Rehab Works) future wife...the shower is Friday. Coral had to spend the night in her room with no TV...her first, and I'm sure not her last, official grounding. October 4, 2001 Today the crew from STS-104 came back to KSC to give a presentation of their mission and Dan got to meet the crew, just like Monday! They stayed for almost 2 hours to talk and sign things...that is very long compared to the usual presentations. Zoey got her teeth worked on at the Vets. Dan met Amy, Coral and Jordan at Gymnastics...Jordan and Dan left early to go home. October 5, 2001 After work, Amy went to dinner and Erik's (from Rehab Works) future wife's wedding shower with Mary (from Rehab Works). And after bedtime for Coral and Jordan, Dan watched "Frequency" on the Starz free weekend...Amy joined in after she got home but missed most of the beginning...Dan enjoyed it, but Amy relaxed a little too much and didn't catch the ending or middle and most of the beginning because she was late...she still gives it 2 "long winks". October 6, 2001 Dan cleaned the cars with a little help from Amy, Coral and Jordan...it was a big job because it hadn't been done in a long time, so the vacuum got up all the food and sand caught in between the seats. The helpers also did some swimming and bike riding to keep them busy. October 7, 2001 After church for Coral and Dan, Dan went to watch the football games and eat some great wings at "The Bearded Clam" with David and John and later Shannah. Amy, Coral and Jordan went to get Coral's Halloween Costume...she is going to be a Butterfly Fairy. October 8, 2001 Happy Birthday to Dad and Gene and Pap!!!!! Dan and Amy had a day off for Columbus Day, so we spent the day at Disney's Magic Kingdom! October 9, 2001 Happy Birthday to Mom and Jude and Gramma!!!! Back to work, school and daycare. Amy had a pretty exciting trip to the Astronaut's Quarters...where they go to get ready for and just relax before they go off to space. After work, Dan got two more fillings for his teeth...oh joy and sorry, no pictures! October 10, 2001 Just a normal work, daycare, school day. October 11, 2001 Amy did laundry, did some shopping and had a doctor's appointment...the normal day-off stuff for her. Dan met everyone at Gymnastics again. October 12, 2001 Not much happening except the Friday stuff...when we got home, Amy called all her friends to tell them the good NEWS! October 13, 2001 We went to Green Meadows for the day...it is a petting zoo/pumpkin patch about an hour away. Coral enjoyed petting all the animals and Jordan really liked running away from us! October 14, 2001 We went to the Shaffer's for a picnic/get-together. There were a bunch of kids running around and playing...a balloon fight even broke out. Coral said "Mom, I had fun today." So that is always good. Make sure to check out our NEWS, if you don't already know. October 15, 2001 Work, school, daycare...after work, Amy did some shopping, while Dan played with the kids. October 16, 2001 The Expedition 2 Crew (the Astronauts that worked and stayed on the Space Station for over 5 months from March through July) came back to KSC to do a presentation and Amy and Dan both went to see it and Dan stayed to get autographs. October 17, 2001 Well it's official, fall has arrived in Florida...the high temperature fell below 80 degrees! October 18, 2001 Cold season may now be in bloom also...Dan seems to have passed a little cold on to Jordan. She was not herself, so Dan and Jordan left Coral's Gymnastics early. October 19, 2001 Amy stayed home from work today because Jordan had a little fever...she was better later in the day. After work, Dan took a trip over to the west coast to visit Dave and Tim Marshall and their cousins' Rex and Terry...they were in town for the Steeler game and stayed at Clearwater Beach. We caught up on current subjects and had a beverage or two and finally got to bed at about 4 AM after going to "Mr. Sandwich"...a local eatery with the worst food ever! October 20, 2001 Dan left Clearwater Beach at about noon and got home around 3 PM and then we all went to Our Savior's Church Fair in Cocoa Beach. The Fair was huge and a ton of fun! We met the Shaffers at the beer tent, but they had to leave early because Tuffer was worn-out. Coral and Dan and sometimes Amy (she is pregnant after all) rode all the rides and used up all our tickets. October 21, 2001 Today was Steeler's Day at the Bolton Bed and Breakfast...because we only get a limited amount of games, we have a party every time one is on TV. So Amy made her chili dip and we watched the Steelers dominate the Bucs and stay in first place in the Central! October 22, 2001 Work...school...daycare...another normal day. Jordan seems to be better and Coral is doing a lot of praying for a brother (Mom and Dad are praying for good health and just a little for a boy). October 23, 2001 After work, Dan met Amy, Coral and Jordan at the Pumpkin Patch to pick out a big pumpkin to carve on Friday. Before bath and bed time, we did a little frisbee throwing on the back porch. October 24, 2001 Not much to report other than work, school, and daycare. October 25, 2001 We met at Gymnastics again because Dan worked late. Amy also worked today because she had a party for Erik...they called it a Tool Time Luncheon...it was a shower. October 26, 2001 The day Coral has been waiting for...we carved the pumpkin! We also watched "Mad Monster Party"...a Rankin/Bass (the team that did "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer") classic. October 27, 2001 Dan watched JoePa finally win number 324 for the record with Jordan (until she had to lay down for her nap), while Amy and Coral went to a Birthday party for one of her class-mates. After they got home, we all did some shopping at BJ's. October 28, 2001 Coral, Jordan and Amy went to McDonald's for another Birthday party (that Coral better slow down her social life or she will never graduate pre-school). After they got back, Dan went to Chuck's to do some jammin'. No Steeler game until Monday this week. October 29, 2001 After work, school, daycare, and then putting the kids to bed, Dan and Amy watched Monday Night Football, starring the Steelers and the city of Pittsburgh! Amy was amazed at how good the City looked at night and got nostalgic and Dan was amazed at how good the Steelers looked, especially the offence, as they crushed the Titans and moved to 5-1. October 30, 2001 Amy went to the doctor's for her Alpha-Feta Protein Test. Dan had a retreat with his office to the Beachhouse. The Beachhouse is really cool, it is on the beach (as the name suggests) and this is where the astronauts used to stay the night before their launches. Rumor has it, they used to throw some pretty wild parties too, but now it is used for a conference place. In one corner, there are shelves full of empty champagne bottles with the mission and signatures of the astronauts. Each group had to put together a skit to tell what they do in an entertaining way and Dan was part of two skits. One was a presentation where he was an inspector and one was a video where he was a construction worker, but they were both really funny. October 31, 2001 Happy Halloween! Coral and Jordan got dressed-up for school and daycare and, after Dan and Amy got home, we went trick-or-treating. Coral was a butterfly fairy and Jordan was a Penn State Cheerleader. We did about 3 or 4 blocks worth of walking and then came home to start eating. Scooby-Doo was on, so we watched that and went through the bags and did some damage. Later that night, Amy felt the baby move, so that is the first offical non-gas movement of the baby. |
