Looks a lot like the rank progression used by the UCAS Marine Corps, doesn't it? When the Peace Force first came into being, the brass thought it would be best to use a progression that was already somewhat familiar to people. I'm sure that most of you noticed, however, that the rank of second lieutenant was changed to simply "lieutenant", and that O2 was changed to commander.
