Israeli Military Industries Tavor II Weapons System (TAR-25)

The Tavor Weapons System is an old design reworked to the 2060s. With the deployment of the weapon to Israeli forces in the early part of the century, there was of course skepticism on the validity of replacing the world renowned Galil assault rifle. Early deployment was initially recieved lukewarm, but as soon as it entered a combat situation, the weapon started building it's reputation up. Initially tested under the Golan Heights area, the weapon still kept up the reputation of the Galil rifle. Additionally, tankers in thier Merkava IV tanks liked having more firepower than a pistol in the carbine version. Eventually it was sold to foreign armies wishing to replace thier old assault rifles.
Then IMI decided to offer the weapon as a complete weapons system, rather than several versions. This caused some confusion and consternation, but as time grew on, it became better. Most of the weapon is encased in a polymer frame that offers good environmental sealing against the harsh desert areas that the weapon would operate in. Other measures were added to reduce the weight further. And unlike most weapons today, it still fires the cased 5.56 x 45mm NATO round, since stocks are still available for the weapon. It is a gas operated bullpup weapon, and uses a special chamber design to bleed off some of the gasses to offer compensation when firing. Cocking the weapon is ambidextrous, as well as a selector for ejection of rounds. Compensation was also added to the barrel, using the newer Improved Gas-Vent technology as well as using a soft pad on the butt of the weapon to help as well. The parts are completely modular and coded to prevent confusion when changing parts. IMI offers the weapon in these three configurations:

Regardless of versions, the weapon mounts the sophisticated Elbit Gavin Reflex Sight, that offers better accuracy at longer ranges. It is mounted on a picatenny rail mount on the top to allow other sighting systems to be mounted. Using a laser rangefinder built into the scope, it allows better fire at longer ranges, and can be used in all environments. A lithium battery provides a week's worth of continous use. Additional batteries cost 10¥.

Elbit Gavin Reflex Sight
New from Elbit, and designed for use with the Tavor, but adaptable for any other class that the Tavor Weapons system is, it consists of a standard optical piece with a laser rangefinder in the front. The rangefinder is activated by pulling lightly on the trigger, and it automatically gives range. Game rules gives it a -1 target number at Long range, and -2 at Extreme range. It is shockproof, and highly reliable.
