Israel Military Industries Micro-Galil II
Israel Military Industries Micro-Galil II

The Israeli Miltary Industries Micro-Galil is an adaptation of their successful Galil design produced in the later part of the twentieth-century. Designed primarily for the military/police markets, the original Micro-Galil revoulutionized the market, however, not finding much acceptance within the U.S. market, due to the thousands of M4s and other submachineguns already familiar to the SWAT and military market. However, the weapon found lots of use within of course the Isreali military, who already using the larger version, were already trained to use the Micro-Galil. Mossad and other special units used it extensively, as well as of course terrorists, and some European and African police units, who found it a reliable, cheaper alternative to other submachineguns at the time.
Like it's progenitor, the Micro-Galil II fires the standard 5.56 x 45mm NATO round, however from a shorter barrel than for this weapon, only 7.60 inches long. however, it's size lends people to believe that it's a carbine. However it is not. The Micro-Galil II's frame is made out of high strength ceramics, reducing weight, as well as use of plastic on the forearm guard to further reduce weight. It is a gas-operated, air cooled weapon that features a modified chamber that offers some compensation from firing the weapon and is fed from a 35-round clip. The barrel end mounts a flash suppressor to reduce the visual signature of the weapon. This can be removed to allow other accessories to be mounted as needed with a tool supplied when purchasing this weapon. A folding stock is standard, and folds to the left side of the weapon, and is designed not to present any balance problems while used and mounts shock pads to help reduce the recoil. The forearm guard mounts an integral laser sight. The weapons sights have been redone, to offer better accuracy over the old Micro-Galil. Both the rear and front sight have been improved, with tritium night firing markers as well as elevation and adjustment through the use of simple tools for zeroing the weapon.
Perhaps the notable feature of this weapon, is of course it's reliability. IMI claims (which has yet to be proven wrong) that the user can bury the weapon in the sand for a few hours. Then the firer must remove the weapon from the dirt, and brush off any loose dirt. Then insert a fresh clip, and fires without a single jam, even after a few clips. This has been the hallmark of all Isreali weapons, whose philosophy is not to clean it when needed, but to clean it when you have time to clean it, therefore the most reliable weapons are of course Israeli. The Micro-Galil II is no exception.

The Micro-Galil has chamber based compensation that offers 2 points of recoil compensation. The shock pads on the stock offer 2 points as well. Mounted internally is a laser sight. The Flash Suppressor mounted on the barrel completely hides the muzzle flash of the weapon, but may be removed (Simple Action with the supplied tool with the weapon) and other accessories can be installed. It can accept top-, and under-barrel accessories.
