M68 Special Munitions Heavy Fire Weapon
M68 Special Munitions Heavy Fire Weapon

New from Special Munitions, this is perhaps the most advanced of all heavy machineguns today. Using a ceramic frame, the HFW is the lightest HMG unloaded than any other in the world. The weapon fires the common 7.62 x 51mm caseless round. The weapon is fed from a special 100 round drum that feeds from the left side. It does have a removable barrel similar to weapons of this nature. It features an ambidextrous barrel release system to ensure proper removal of the barrel. A foldable carrying handle is off to the right of the bipod system. The bipod, which is adjustable, is mounted on top of the barrel shroud, allowing the use of the TAG Rail Mount system to add firepower to the weapon, or add to the capabilities of the unit's it's supporting. The barrel system also mounts the sighting gear for the internal Smartlink Level II and the rangefinder. Needless to say, the spare barrel has the same for easier field changing. Both systems are designed to be proof against the normal shocks that are encountered in the field. The stock of the weapon mounts an autostabilization stock, along with shock pads, a firing brace, and a vertical handgrip (EDITOR'S NOTE: This is not definitely a new concept, it is being used by the SA80 LSW in service with the British Army). The positioning of the handgrip allows the firer to adjust their arm to pull back on the weapon, and combined with the firing brace, allowing uparralelled accuracy. It also has a small volume for a cleaning kit that comes with the weapon, along with a bottle of CLP. The feed tray cover has been designed with a picatenny sight mount that features a removable rear sight assembly that can mount any kind of scope. The feed tray itself only rotates up to 45º to allow clearance for any sighting accessory. For additional recoil reduction, the barrel features an Imp. Gas-Vent IV compensator. Extra containers cost 50¥ each and have the same Availability and Street Index as the weapon itself.
Type Conceal Ammo Mode Damage Weight Availability Cost Street Index

The HFW mounts an autostabilization stock that offers 1 point of recoil compensation. The barrel mounted Imp. Gas-Vent IV offers 5 points of recoil reduction, along with the shock pads offering 2 points. The rear mounted vertical grip only offers 1 point when used as described above, and the folding bipod when deployed offers 2 points. The TAG Rail Mount can mount any standard accessory offered. It also mounts the Smartlink II system, combined with a rangefinder. Use heavy weapon recoil rules.
