The Jusenkyö Guide
The man in change of Jusenkyö, he knows more about it that anyone, and his house is a small hut, near the pools.
Entrance: V1.2, Nibunnoichi part 1
Distinctive features: An fat middle-aged man, who wears simple Chinese clothes, and has a pipe.

Shampoo
After onna-Ranma beat her, she followed Ranma back to Japan for revenge, where male Ranma beat her and she now has to marry him by the laws of her village
Entrance: V4.4, Nibunnoichi part 15
Distinctive features: Waist-length purple hair with small hair ornaments, and wears cute Chinese clothing.
Cursed to turn into a cat (with the same hair ornaments as her human form) when splashed with cold water after being knocked into Spring-of-Drowned-Cat.

Does she really love Ranma?
Yes - she loves him more than anyone else, which V20.7-8 shows.

Does she love Mousse?
She doesn't totally hate him. For example, she splashes herself to turn into a cat to chase off Ranma when he's beating up Mousse (V10.5). Agrees to go on a date with him in V29.6, gave him a scarf that she'd been making for Ranma V33.7, doesn't mind when Mousse accidently lets a firework explode in her face (V34.11). However, she doesn't appear to like him much, or his taste in what a good date is.

If Mousse beat her, would she then want him, not Ranma?
There is no evidence that Mousse would have to beat her to marry her. Shampoo would want to marry the strongest man, and thats Ranma, so Mousse would probably have to beat Ranma. For more information see the section on Joketsuzoku.

Why does she try to use herbs, and special tricks to get Ranma?
Because she's rather forceful in her attempts to get Ranma to love her, and it also makes for intresting stories. In V30.2 Ranma asks Cologne for something to make Ryöga fall in love with Akari, and she says that if she had something so convenient she would have used it long ago on him. Shampoo has tried, making Akane forget Ranma (V4.7), mushrooms with suggestive powers (V11.7-8), using the Bake-Neko to get rid of Akane (V14.2).

How does she treat her curse?
[C4] She doesn't like being a weak cat, but she does use it against Ranma. She's never been seen to be particularly upset about it, except just after she was first cursed.

Cologne
After Shampoo failed to kill Ranma, Cologne retrained Shampoo at Jusenkyö and has come back with Shampoo to help her marry Ranma, by fair means or foul.
Entrance: V5.6, Nettouhen part 3
Distinctive features: About 1 foot high, long white hair, and often hops around on her long stick.

What was she like when younger?
She was taller (normal height), and beautiful (but not cute), and also very dangerous.

Why does she want Ranma he marry Shampoo?
It's her village's custom to marry a strong man, and Ranma's the strongest young guy around.

Why does she teach Ranma and Ryöga those special moves?
[C4,5] I don't know why she showed Ranma the Kachü Tenshin Amaguriken, but maybe she expected Ranma to fail, and give up, and so have to marry Shampoo. She taught Ranma the Hiryü Shöten Ha, so he could beat Happosai and get his strength back, and taught Ryöga the Bakusai Tenketsu so he could beat Ranma, who would then have had to give up Akane.

Why does she give up the Phoenix Pill after Ranma uses the Neko-ken in V6 (GN 5)?
Maybe she thought she would have really lost if they had continued to fight, or was worried what might happen if they didn't stop, or because she gave up on trying to force Ranma to marry Shampoo using that method.

Why didn't she enter the contest Ranma first beat Shampoo in?
[C4,5] Maybe there was an age, or some other restriction, or perhaps because it wouldn't be sporting.

Who did she have children with, ie who is Shampoo's great-grandfather?
[C4] Unknown - may she still has a husband, maybe he died a long time ago.

Mousse
He's been in love with Shampoo since a very early age, but she's always rejected him, but he followed her to China, and now wants to beat Ranma so he can prove himself to her. Works at the Neko Hanten.
Entrance: V5.7, Nettouhen part 5
Distinctive features: Long voluminous white robes, long black hair, and occasionally thick glasses to help him see. His cursed form is that of all white duck, with glasses.
Cursed to be a duck when splashed with water after he blindly walked into Spring-of-Drowned-Duck.

[C4,5] Why does he still love Shampoo?
He's loved her since childhood, and hasn't given up, even after all the rejections, but of we don't know why he fell in love with her in the first case.

Where does he keep all his weapons?
Up his sleeves.

Why does he work in the Neko Hanten for such little reward?
So he can be with Shampoo, and also he does get some money, and gives him a place to stay.

What does he try to do to get Shampoo?
Kill Ranma (his only competition), and he's always asking Shampoo out on dates, and has made gifts for her.

What does he think of his curse?
Doesn't like being a weak duck, but does use its advantages.

How well can he see with and without his glasses?
With them he can see okay, but without them, he's hopeless, and always mistakes others for Shampoo.

Why doesn't he wear his glasses all the time?
[C1,5] Pride perhaps.

Pantyhose Taro
Baptised by Happosai (the only person who can change his name) in Spring-of-Drowned-Yeti-riding-a-Bull-holding-a-Crane-and-Eel, he is cursed to change into a huge monster when he gets wet. But he doesn't mind that, he just wants a name that isn't too humiliating to tell anyone.
Entrance: V18.1, Nettouhen part 103
Distinctive features: Dresses in loose trousers and shirt, he has two small strands of hair by his ears - which have earrings. His cursed form is unmistakable, unless you see a lot of 20m high minotaur-like monsters with wings and octopus tentacles - he deliberately used Jusenkyö to give himself tentacles by the time he turned up again.

What does he think of his curse?
He likes being able to turn into a strong monster.

Why is he so upset with Happosai?
He hates the name 'Pantyhose' - he's too embarrassed to give it to a girl, so can't find love, and generally doesn't like such a humiliating name.
