The Characters of Ranma ½

Ranma Saotome, Male (16):

He is the son of martial artist, Genma Saotome. He is Akane's fiancé. He secretly is in love with her, but these two usually spend their time arguing with each other. Ranma actually has three fiancées: Akane Tendo, a real tomboy, Shampoo, an Amazon woman who has been defeated by Ranma, and Ukyo Kuonji, who is the best okonomiyaki cook in Japan. Another girl who couldn't resist his charm is Kodachi, Kuno's [twisted] sister. During training in Jusenkyo with his father, Ranma fell into one of the many cursed springs and now a splash of cold water will instantly turn him into the female version of himself. A splash of hot water will make him transform back into a boy. Ranma has some enemies: Kuno, Ryoga, and Mousse. He is really scared of cats.

Ranma Saotome, Female (16):

She is the female version of Ranma. Kuno calls her the "Pig-tailed girl". She is a well-built young woman. Ranma loves ice cream but only eats some when he is a girl because he thinks it would look weird if a boy liked ice cream. She uses her sexy looks to get information she seeks from boys.

Akane Tendo (16):

She is the daughter of Soun Tendo and has two older sisters, Kasumi (19) and Nabiki (17). She is Ranma's "uncute" fiancée. She is a real tomboy and as she says "hates" boys. All the boys in her school want to invite her on a date, but they don't by fear of Kuno, the popular boy in Furinkan High School, who cannot decide who to love: Akane or the "Pig-Tailed Girl". Ryoga is also in love with Akane. She spends her time training at the dojo (her house) and arguing with Ranma. She is secretly in love with Ranma but won't say anything because the two of them are so stubborn and proud. She has a pet, a black pig called P-Chan, who is in fact Ryoga in his other form, but she doesn't know about it. She is a really bad cook and gets people sick after they tasted her cuisine.

Genma Saotome:

He is Ranma's father. During his training in Jusenkyo, he too fell into a spring and transforms into a giant panda. He and Soun, Akane's father, are the one who decided that Akane and Ranma should be married to inherit the Anything Goes dojo. He plays Chinese Chess with Soun most of the time and as soon as there is a problem, he transforms into a panda (who cannot speack, which is convenient for him sometimes). His master is Grandfather Hopposai.

Soun Tendo:

He is the over-reacting father of three daughters: Kasumi (19), Nabiki (17), and Akane (16). He owns the Anything Goes Martial Arts dojo. His master is Grandfather Hopposai and his friend is Genma Saotome.

Kasumi Tendo (19):

She is the oldest daughter of Soun Tendo and is the only one who can cook in the Tendo family. She is a really caring, polite, gentle, and delicate young woman. She spends most of her days cooking, going to the market, and doing housework. She loves a doctor called Dr. Tofu, who is also in love with her.

Nabiki Tendo (17):

She is the second daughter of Soun Tendo. She is always trying to get money out of people. She is the businessperson in the family. If you want a piece of information, you'll have to pay a way or another. She goes into the same high school as Akane and Ranma.

Shampoo:

She works in a restaurant called the Cat Café with her great-grandmother. She is an Amazon and is not from Japan so she has a funny accent to listen to. A while ago, Ranma male has defeated her and according to the Amazon rules, she has to marry the man who defeats her. She really likes Ranma and always wants him to date her. Meanwhile, Mousse is in love with Shampoo but she despises him. She also fell down into one of the Jusenkyo springs and now a splash of water will transform her into a cat.

Ryoga Hibbiki:

He is Ranma's childhood friend. He traveled all through Japan and China just to settle a fight with Ranma, but while on the way, he met a giant panda (Genma) and a girl (Ranma female) who were running toward him and made him fall into one of the Jusenkyo springs. He came out as a little black pig. He travels all the time even if he has a terrible sense of orientation. He keeps getting lost and may take weeks just to go in the street behind his house. As a human, he loves Akane but doesn't have the courage to ask her on a date, and as a pig, he is Akane's pet, P-Chan.

Ukyo Kyonji:

She is a spatula-wielding warrior and okonomiyaki chef par excellence. She is also Ranma's childhood friend. Her father gave their okonomiyaki or "Japanese pizza" cart and herself to Genma Saotome for her to be Ranma's wife, but Ranma's father left without her. She then decided to forget about her womanhood, and train hard to become the best okonomiyaki chef in Japan. When she first arrived in Furinkan high school, everybody thought she was a boy and when she found Ranma to get revenge for leaving her behind, they fought, but later on, she forgave him and became Ranma's "cute" fiancée.

Kodachi:

She is Kuno's (twisted) sister who goes to an all-girl private school. She lives in a rich mansion with her brother and janitor, Sasuke. She is a great martial gymnast. She has one of the weirdest and funniest laughs I have ever heard. She uses a black rose to show her presence. She is one of the many girls who are in love with Ranma.

Kuno:

He is Kodachi's brother and calls himself the "Blue Thunder of Furinkan high school". He uses a wooden sword in combat and fights with male Ranma because he is Akane's fiancé. In the other hand, he loves the "Pig-Tailed Girl" who is in reality female Ranma. He loves two women and cannot choose which one to date: Akane or the "Pig-tailed Girl". He is respected by his peers at school.

Grandpa Hopposai:

He is Genma and Soun's master who spends his time stealing women's underwear at school and around the Anything Goes martial arts dojo. He is a joyful pervert who would do anything to be with a young good-looking woman. Even with his small size, he is a really good martial artist.

Mousse:

He works in the Cat Café with Shampoo who he loves. He hates Ranma for stealing Shampoo's heart. He transforms into a duck when splashed with cold water. He has a really bad vision, that's why he wears glasses, but he tends to take them off to look better. But then he doesn't see a thing anymore and so embarrasses himself. He uses chains and craws to attack his enemies.

Great-grandmother:

She is Shampoo's great-grandmother and lives in the Cat Café with her great-granddaughter.

Dr. Tofu:

He is a kind doctor in town and is appreciated by everyone. He has known the Tendo family for a long time and has seen Akane grow up. She used to have a crush on him until she understood that he was in love with her older sister, Kasumi. When Kasumi would visit him, he would begin to act shy and weird and cannot concentrate on his work. That's why all his patients would leave as soon as Kasumi is in his clinic.
