| Pearl White Feathers |

| Pearl was asleep by the time Verminous pulled into the driveway. He shut the car off and for a moment just regarded her as she slept. Her elbow was propped up on the arm rest with her head cradled in her palm. Her lips parted alluringly as a piece of her hair rested between them; he reached over and smoothed her hair behind her ear. Getting out he went over to the passengers side and unbuckled her; she didn't even stir as he lifted her out of the car and carried her into the house. It was well furnished with the luxuries he had never cared to own himself all except a couch and television but everything else was completely new to him. After a few guesses he found the bedroom. A queen sized bed lay before him once through the door; two bedside tables were on either side each with its own lamp. He put Pearl on the bed and sat beside her. "You-" He took off her shoes then began unbuttoning her blouse. "-are one sound sleeper, you know that." He softly kissed her and turned to leave the room. Pearl had the tendancy to wander from the group when there was nothing she could do except wait until they needed to call Captain Planet, especially if something caught her eye. So she usually ended up being captured quite a few times. The Eco-Villains couldn't get over how docile she was. Maybe she was smart enough to know that the phrases "You'll never get away with this!" and "Let me go!" wouldn't help her in the least. So she just reached into her bag, pulled out a discman and slipped headphones on and that was that. Five minutes later she'd be asleep. They didn't bother tying her up; what was the point if she didn't do anything except bop along to her music? "What do you listen to?" he had asked her one day. "Korn." She lifted one of the earphones away from her ear. "As if 'saving' the earth wasn't good enough," Plunder sneered, "you also listen to it to?" "The 'K' korn not the 'C' corn. Big difference." She shook her head. "All you can bring me is one?" Zarm scowled as Skumm led Pearl into the ship. "She's the easiest," Plunder answered. "It's a start, I suppose." Zarm eyed her then cast a forcefield around her. Pearl just sighed and sat down. She took out a piece of jerky and stared at Zarm pensively. Her dark eyes then moved to the massive computer screen behind him. "Hey," she waved, "dude." "What is it?" he said impatiently. "Does that screen allow things to be hooked up to it?" she motioned behind him. "Why?" he asked suspiciously. "Ever played Playstation, it's really fun and I promise it's not a scheme for me to escape." She dug in her bag and fished out a game console. "See?" "I have no time for games," he snarled. "OK, then can I play?" She looked up at him hopefully. "I need something to do before my friends find me, and they will." "Look after her and make sure she doesn't try anything. I'm going to keep a lookout for the other planet pains." The forcefield dissappeared and Pearl jumped up and headed straight for the screen. "Let's see..." She studied the layout, "I'm guessing this will go here and this here." After a few button presses she finally got the Playstation logo across the screen. "Okay, problem of hooking up the thing is solved. Now what game?" She searched through her bag and pulled out numberous CD cases. By now all the Eco-Villains had gathered around her. She looked behind her at the five curious faces. "Do you want to play to?" They blankly nodded, not really grasping the fact of what it was exactly. "OK, if all of you want to play, then I suggest Twisted Metal." She separated one of the cases from the rest. "It sounds like a recycling game," Greedly growled. "Does this look like a recycling game to you?" She thrust the booklet in his face. "Vehicle warfare, choose out of 10 characters to battle to the death in order to win any prize they so desire." he read. "Far from environmentalist ideas, huh?" She popped the game in the system. When Zarm came back he found the group around the console yelling and cheering as vehicles on the screen launched missiles and slammed into each other. Pearl was fast asleep in Skumm's lap. Not long after the Planeteers did show up and caught them all by surprise. Calling Captain Planet, the plan was ruined. Needless to say they never allowed Pearl to set up the Playstation again if they were onto some polluting scheme. But sometimes they would get ahold of her one way or another and ask if they could borrow it. The strange thing was that she always got it back. To be continued... |
