Eccentric Flamingoes vs. Cherrybank

Result: Eccentric Flamingoes won by 7 wickets

On a quite uncannily sunny early May night, the Flamingoes turned out in full force for the first game of the season against Cllr. Kerr's Cherrybank side. On winning the toss Cherrybank chose to bat first.

EF saw success in the first over with Wallace catching the ball over his head off the bowling of Pringle for the first wicket of the season. Rather than being happy at taking the catch Wallace was just relieved that he wasn't the first person this seaon to drop an easy catch. We only had to wait a matter of minutes though before that honour fell into (and then dropped out off) the hands of O'Hara, with a lollypop chance put down. Keeping Cherrybank scoring at a low rate, the EF bowlers put in one of their tighest performances for months, highlights including Hinds' 2 wickets in 3 balls, the second of which whipped the bails off so delicately that no-one actually heard it happen, and a quite superb catch by Giulanotti off Hannah's bowling to remove Kerr, oh, yes, and O'Hara dropping another catch.

Cherrybank Innings: 71-6 (Lumsden 25 n.o., Hinds 5-2)

EF opened with Fowler & Broon and saw Fowler run out in the first over, followed by Broon being caught in the second over & Pringle being bowled with the next ball. Hmmm. This brought Wallace & O'Hara to crease who, with a typical display of slashing across the line and clubbing the ball, managed to both retire at 25 n.o. This was added to with an unbeaten stand of 12 by Urwin with the winning runs coming off Ramsay to the boundary, which is nice.
