| Episode 4 The Nadesico has just broke free and is floating around in space. The episode starts with Yurika attempting to talk to Seiya, who is steadfastedly ignoring her. How-Mei comes over She mentions three new pilots that the ship is going to pick up. At this point Yurika completely snaps over being ignored and storms out of the room. Meanwhile, Akito witnesses Guys 'official death'. In able to handle his grief, Akito locks himself in Guy's room and repeatedly rewatches a death scene in Gekiganger. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew has reached. . .oh, never mind, it just blew up. Indeed, some weird space station thing blew up. . .right in the middle of a communications transmission with Megumi. The crew is understandably devasted, but most of them retain their wits. They quickly begin to retreat from the Jovian forces. Meanwhile, Akito is still watching his Gekiganger when all of a sudden he hears a sound from the ceiling. As he raises his gun to fire, he hears a crying sound. Seconds later a girl falls down on him, crying over the death of Joe. She then quickly turns bubbly, and introduces herself as an Aestivalis pilot. That's when Yurika notices a bunch of Aestivalis coming towards the Nadesico. She quickly identifies them as being good (Although no one can figure out her reasoning). When the Aestivalis lands, a girl walks out. ("She's a girl?!?!?") The pilot introduces herself as Ryoko and begins to complain about needing a shower. Just as Yurika asks about the other pilots, Hikaru and Akito conveniently walk in. Then Izumi appears. . .in the box. Afterwards Megumi, still feeling slightly bad about the destruction at the space station, goes to a simulated room to stare at a simulated sky. Akito joins her and they have a sweet, but terribly boring talk about human nature. Akito has one of his mood swings, and decides to fight--he gives all of the credit to Megumi. Meanwhile the Aestivalis pilots decide to go down and get the fourth machine from the remains of the space station. They quickly hop in and fly down. . .followed closely by Akito. When they discover the ship, it turns out to have been reprogrammed by the Jovian lizards and they are forced to fight it. Ryoko punches the thing out through the hull, and it goes hurtling off. . .straight towards the Nadesico. Fortunately, Akito, who lost control of his own ship, is floating around in space and manages to stop the Aestivalis. They all go back into the ship, and Akito is hailed as a hero. He kisses Megumi, and the episode ends with Yurika staring at the two and screaming about it all being a dream. |
| Episode 5 Okay, talk about a really weird episode. This is all told through the eyes of Ruri, while the Nadesico is just floating around through space. Nobody really has anything to do. Minako has been sleeping in late, and Megumi and Ruri are the only ones with any jobs. Yurika, meanwhile, is running around the ship performing funerals for everyone who died during the last battle. She's a little depressed by having to do this, until she notices that Akito is also desparate with the funerals, preparing food. His appearance makes her rush off to another pointless conclusion, and she happily continues to perform funerals. Meanwhile Akito finds out about How-Mei's past. . .and about paella. (See the character page) Later on in the episode, when Yurika is exhausted from all of the funerals, she asks Ruri why she has to do this. Ruri pulls up a file on past captains, and discovers that most pilots are chosen merely for their attractiveness. Yurika snaps and runs off. Meanwhile Megumi is unconsciously being cruel to Yurika, and Ruri is reprimanding her for it. Eventually Yurika completely loses it and goes into the meditation room, where she remains for several weeks. This means the Jun is in charge, and we get some interesting scenes of HIM performing funerals. Eventually Akito goes to the meditation room, debating over whether or not he should fight. Yurika spots him, and her heart is instantly healed. Her head might take a little longer, though, thanks to the robots. (Worldly passions bad. Worldly passions bad) Then both of them come out, and what do they behold? A mutiny. Everyone on the ship is slightly upset over a clause in their contracts--a clause that states that there will be no more contact between people other then holding hands. Comically enough, only Seiya and the Aestivalis pilots are upset about this. Yurika yells at them for a while, and some Jovian lizards show up. Obviously the three pilots take out to attack them. More surprising, they are closely followed by Akito (Seiya yells at him about taking out an Aestivalis). Ryoko and Hikaru quickly start blowing people up, and show off more then slightly. Izumi yells at them for it, they repent, but continue to have a little TOO much fun killing people. Akito decides for some unknown reason that he's the only one taking the battle seriously. Soon a big ship thing shows up with a forcefield around it. Akito charges at it (the girls think it's suicide) yelling some trash about 'hitting it at the right angle'. Sure enough, being the hero his scatter-brained plan works and he destroys the machine. The pilots return to the ship where they congradulate Akito on his kill. (Ryoko even buys him a soda!) So what does this mean? That the Nadesico can now enter Mars' atmosphere. It proceeds to land on Mars. Akito asks permission to borrow a land model so that he can visit his hometown, the Utopian colony. The Admiral grudgingly gives permission. But just as Akito is about to leave, Megumi runs up and begs to come along. Being the weak-spined boy that he is, Akito lets her join him. They head off (Akito gets a nice view up her skirt on the way) And soon arrive. There MEgumi asks some questions about Akito's past, espeicially his relationship with Yurika. We find out that Akito's parents were scientists (And that his dad was REALLY mean!) And there's a nice little flashback. (FYI: Akito and Yurika were cute as kids). MEgumi then proceeds to tell Akito exactly what she's looking for in the perfect man. But just as she's winding down (We hope!) Akito falls through the ground. Seconds later, Megumi also falls. (through the ground, I mean) MEanwhile Ryoko, HIkaru, Izumi, adn The Prospector are on Mars as well, on a mission to one of the settlements in the hope of rescuing any survivors. Unfortunately the settlement has been abandoned for years. The Prospector tels an interesting tale of how the Nadesico was 'found' and then they all troop back to the ship. So anyway, Megumi and Akito have fallen through the ground. . .straight into the camp of the Martian survivors. A shrouded figure takes them into the middle of the colony and explains that the settlers don't want to leave. (NOt until Akito gives an inspiring speech, though). Just as the figure reveals itself to be a her named Ines Fresage the ground trembles. Ines, Megumi, and Akito run upstairs and see the Nadesico. Apparently Yurika was 'worried' about Akito and brought the Nadesico out to find him. The three people on the surface are taken up onto the Nadesico where Ines continues to talk. She mentions that the settles are safer on Mars then on the Nadesico, and reveals that she helped create the Nadesico. Just as she's winding down, a whole Jovian fleet approaches. Yurika immediately orders Minato to send out a gravity blast. But. . .gasp! the Jovains are still stanidng. Guess what. . .they have distortion fields. Yurika wants to order another blast, but she can't due to some technically. So instead she orders that the distortion field be put up. . .but she can't do that either because it would crush the settlers below them. Meanwhile Ines is getting a kick out of being right. It comes down to the wire, and Yurika orders the field put up. . .and kills the settlers. She kinda spazzes and almost pukes (Yurika! From Jun) However everyone agrees that she made the right decision. Later Akito goes to find Yurika. . .in the bathroom. She asks for a kiss, Akito spazzes, and runs away. The tape ends with a little speech by Megumi, stating how sh'es not going to lose. Yurika misinterprets her speech, assuming that it's about the Jovians, and marches off with renewed spirits. |
