A Season's Loneliness

Alone...
Cold distance covers me, a favor sleeps,
Under the white eyelids of tales untold
Raveled deep and quick into a snow-- blank Self, posed...

I remember you!  Full-force bounds green
Secret and pure, fresh to unfold
Still fern-curled awakened, untried, to bloom-- a Life sensed, but
   unknown...

The knowing ripens, sun-bright and deep
A heart filled-- aflood me, the memory is gold
And quickens me to the hilt-- I beam, Desire unfolds...

And then the harvest is over, the crows stripped
All sweet rush silenced, full bloom wilts cold
And past again, brown (Regret's color)-- are memory of Love...

It retreats to the white-black blank, waiting.
Alone...
