On two pieces of music (11/5/96)

First

Across the distance that lies between us
Through our planes of separation
Your soul calls to mine
Calling a wilder part of myself
That longs to be free of this life
I know that I will join you soon
Though for now I must wait
Until we are together for all time
At the heart of the world.

Second

I remember a day when we were all younger
Running through the grass playing hide'n'seek
Or skipping arm and arm down the sidewalk
Like in the Wizard of Oz
I know those days are behind us
The childish games are over
But the fun-loving spirit remains here
And I know our friendship will not
Fade like the summer days
