Earth in the Rearview Mirror (10/8/97)

We spend our lives with Her
Sheltered by the One
Who gave us birth
She holds us in her arms
Protects and nurtures us
Hopes we will grow strong
And true
A credit to our Mother
And we are reluctant to leave Her
To take our first halting steps
To leave behind our familiar Home
Yet we dream about the Outside
The beckoning endless dark
Finally we break free
With a wordless shout and roar of joy
And leap heedless from Her embrace
To join our sisters and our brothers
In their dance among the stars.
