Summary

This 26 episode series starts off with everyone wanting to catch the notorious Vash the Stampede, a wanted criminal worth $$60,000,000 (that's double-dollars). Hey, you'd want that money too, right? If everyone everywhere is out to catch this guy, then what's the problem?

Well, for some reason, Vash seems to "escape" each situation either humorously, stupidly (you know, with the funny faces!) or skillfully with some really cool moves. Either way he does it, a lot of damage seems to follow in his wake. He never seems to cause it, and any injuries to anyone usually happens in self-infliction or some other unusual circumstance.

This is sounding really vague isn't it? Well, all the answers about Vash and his past unfold with each passing episode (personally, I've gotten to ep.12). Things are very funny with Vash's antics, and get interesting when the "real" plot comes in.

A fun fact: Vash doesn't fire a single shot from his gun until a few episodes into the series (ep. 5 or 6 I think). So instead of firing the bullets, he throws 'em! How cool is that? And when you get to meet Wolfwood, I'm sure you'll like him just as much or maybe more than Vash!

What I like about this series:

The greatest thing this series has going for it is it's creativity. This is one anime where you don't know what to expect next. For example, take the black cat that appears in every episode for no apparent reason at all and even interacts with the characters! Also, guns of all shapes and sizes are hidden in the weirdest places you'd never expect them to be!

The humor present in a "western" of sorts makes for a very fun watch. All of the shooting is fast and exciting, but don't expect things to stay serious for long, 'cause Vash might bust out with his "LOVE and PEACE!" saying right then and there.

The underlying plot about Vash the mystery man sparks a lot of curiosity too, and I can't wait to see just who this guy is!

What I don't like about this series:

I can't really say much in this section because I'm not even halfway through the series! Well, perhaps one complaint I have about this series is that things develop quite slowly in terms of character development and plot. The episodes in Trigun have the feel of "randomness" since not all of them connect together. In a way, this anime series is very similar to Cowboy Bebop in terms of its presentation. The characters are put in random situations while the juicy stuff comes once in a while. I know for a fact that the series gets much better later on, so I guess I'll have to wait till I can get my hands on the next video.

The Ami Rating:  Personally, I prefer my shabon spray to any gun, but that's just me...

Right now, Trigun is a very enjoyable watch, but isn't the "must watch" anime for me as of yet. This is probably because I haven't seen the series up until the end. For Trigun, this would be a high level "indifferent" rating. Once I get further into the story I'm sure this rating will go higher, kind of like what I did with my Magic Knight Rayearth review. Things change with time, ok?

Hello? Um, hey?

Vash: Don't I get a say in this? Anyway....LOVE and PEACE!
