Welcome to "Is it hot in here?" (the Rei Shrine), a page devoted to the hottest sailor soldier around! So you're probably wondering why I like Rei so much as to make a shrine to her. If you're not, well that's ok. I'll tell you anyway! Here I go with my list of Rei's "coolness" in no particular order...

The "Miko" Thing

Rei's position as a miko, or priestess, is something not commonly seen in anime (aside from Fushigi Yuugi of course). Her abilities as a priestess make for cool scenes, like her meditations in front of the fire, (it gets even cooler when she does the hand stuff!) her spirit wards, and her other mystical (and psychic?) powers. Last, but not least, I like her miko outfit too.

She can KICK BUTT!

If you've already seen my "About Me" page, you already know that I love kick butt female leads, and Rei is at the top of my list of favorites. She can even kick butt when she isn't transformed! Oh yeah, Makoto, (Sailor Jupiter) also kicks some major butt, but there is just something about Sailor Mars. She does her kick butt with STYLE. She doesn't just use her brute force to handle the baddies (though Mako-chan is still very very cool). Sometimes she uses her wards (like a ninja too!) and sometimes she even uses her bamboo broom! Of course, fists and kicks are never out of the question. Her flame attacks, which I consider to be the most deadly looking (well... since it IS fire) are so COOL, especially the flame sniper attack. 

She's a great friend!

All of the inner senshi have a great friendship, though the closest relationship in my opinion, is the friendship between Usagi and Rei. Even though it doesn't always show, they're there for each other through thick and thin. Sure, they quarrel a lot (which is quite funny at times), but when things get serious so do they. When Rei is around Usagi and the other inner senshi, it's worth it to see her lower her defenses (and pride) for a little while. When they're all together, the sailors are quite the funny group, especially when Minako-chan goes running off for some hot guys!

She's multi-talented! 

She's smart, can sing, compose music, ski, ice skate, do fire readings, give expert love advice, (for Usagi for course!) and most of all...kick BUTT! If I missed any of her wonderful talents, it's only because I don't know about them! With a girl who has all of these great things going for her, there's still something missing from the picture, ne? She's such a hopeless romantic! All of the Inner Senshi are in some way, (see their reaction to the Three Lights in the SailorStars season) but this topic will bring us on to the next section...

Rei & Yuuichirou!

Most North American viewers will know the scruffy guy who hangs around the Hikawa Shrine as Chad, (what a surfer name!) but his original (and MUCH more creative) name is Yuuichirou Kamada! He doesn't show up in a lot of the anime episodes, which is too bad, because every time he shows up, there's a really big Sailor Mars episode on the way! (YAY!) 

So what about Rei & Yuuichirou is it that I like so much? Well, they are such a cute couple! If you have had enough for the mushy mushy Usagi and Mamoru, this relationship is refreshing to watch. I admit, I like watching people fall in love slowly, because it's much more rewarding in the end. Crushes are cute, anyway, aren't they? And as anime fans, unsure relationships seem to be rooted for more, such as Ranma & Akane from Ranma 1/2, and Kenshin and Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin.

So what is it about this relationship that makes Rei so cool anyway? She's in love, that's what! For the fans of this couple, please watch episode 99, otherwise known as "Mixed Emotions" (NA dub) in the Sailor Moon S season! It's a great starting point for their relationship, but sadly, I don't think any future episodes were dedicated to it.

Oh yeah, one more comment. Yuuichirou doesn't exist in the manga! Too bad, because I think Naoko Takeuchi-sama would've made so this couple appears a lot more often! 

Ok, some of the non-Rei fans out there might not be that crazy about Sailor Mars because of her "attitude" and reputation for being "stuck up." Hey, I respect your opinion, but personally, I just see some great character in this girl. She can stick up for herself! Can you say...spunky?

Rei is just one of my favorites of the Sailor Senshi. Actually, all of the inners are big favorites of mine, since each of them has their own appeal. I like Ami because of her compassion, her dedication, and she's great at video games too! Ami's feigned innocence also seems to make me crack up. (^_^) I like Makoto because of her big heart, her romantic side, and she can kick butt too! I like Minako because of her great dreams and because she's so funny all the time! Last but not least, I like Usagi because she has what it takes to be the Moon Princess, and by herself or with any of the other senshi, she's hilarious! I love it especially when they're all together (too bad Rei goes to a different school..) because they are ALL so funny! It's great to see each member of the inner senshi open up to each other and just have fun once in a while.    

I will be adding more onto Rei's list of "coolness" in the future...till then, enjoy some fanart made my me, Noelle-chan! Knock yourself out! I'm not taking any requests at the moment, sorry! I pretty much draw when I feel like it.
