Summary

Fushigi Yuugi, otherwise known as "The Mysterious Play," is a 52 episode TV series (double the length of the "normal" 26). To top it all off, there are OAV's to really "end" the story. I haven't seen the OAV's yet, so I don't know how many there are! ANYWAY...*ahem* back to the summary!

The whole "play" starts when Miaka Yuki and her best friend Yui Hongo stumble across a mysterious book called The Universe of the Four Gods. When they opened it, they were both taken to different world, a world parallel to what is written in the book. Miaka and Yui take very different paths to their destiny in this new world, and meet lots of hot guys while they're at it! This anime is chock full of the stuff of daytime television, supernatural powers, and super deformed hilarity!

What I like about this series:

I just love the sheer amount of plot and story in this anime! It just seems to keep going...and going...just like another one of my favorites, Sailor Moon, only a little more connected.

I also like all of the character development and interaction. In 52 episodes, a lot can be done with the many (I mean A LOT!) characters of the show. Each of them has their own story and motivation. These people grow on you, no da!

No da! That brings me to another thing I like! Chichiri! No DA! He's just so darn cute!

One last thing...this is one anime where the drama and comedy switch back and forth a lot, so when things seem to get depressing or lovey-dovey, expect some anime pratfall around the corner! This anime just keeps you guessing!

What I don't like about this series:

MIAKA!!! TAMAHOME!!! Oh my goodness...the moment you meet the destined lovers, it seems that they just can't stop saying each other's names in every single episode! It gets funny after awhile, because it happens WAY too often.

MIAKA!!! TAMAHOME!!! (part two) Oh yeah, it seems these people either break up or get back together like a hundred million times. I've heard of rocky relationships, but this?

MIAKA!!! TAMAHOME!!! (part three) just kidding! :-)

Not enough Chichiri! NO DA! (it means y'know, you know?)

The Ami Rating: I like it, no da!

Do you like Sailor Moon? This series appeals to any SM fan as well as any shojo (girl's anime) fan. Don't get me wrong, this anime can appeal to both guys and girls alike, but they have to be able to be interested in relationships and stuff to like it! In other words, don't sit a Dragonball Z fanatic in front of this and expect them to fall in love with it! There is some action here for you action fans too, don't worry! Also, I have happened to see the dubbed version, and to my relief, it's not that bad! (The Sailor Moon dub is BAD!) Check this anime out! You won't be sorry.

I think I'm lost no da....Where am I? No DAAA!
